been elected Principal of the Graded School
of this borough for the ensuing year, in
place of Prof. BURGAX, who we believe was
not 1m applicant for re-election. Prof. A. is
very highly recommended as a gentleman of
line culture, large experience and great suc

acquisition to the noble band of live, progres
sive teachers of Bradford county.
Prof. BURGAN'S administration during the
pa-t three years has proven highly satisfacto
ry and his work has been well done, earning
for him the respect of the hoard and his fel- j
low teachers, the commendation of parents
and the respect and affection of pupils. We
consider him one of the very best teachers in
the country and hope he lias obtained a more
lucrative position. We are sincerely sorry to

The excursion of the Universalis! Sunday
School, yesterday, to Kilenberger's Fishing
Ponds, was one of the most (gratifying and
successful that ever went out from our town.
To the charming music of the Germania Band
the School left the Church at 9:45 a. m., and
inarched in line to the depot, each class ac
companied by its teacher, the rear brought up
by adults. The bright happy faces of all,
from the tinny toddlers of four years, to the
young men and Misses and their parents,
with the good marching and large numbers
made a verv attractive appearance, and was
very creditable to the School. They arrived
at the grounds at eleven o'clock, and were
met by Mr. EILENBERGER. who conducted
them to the grove where ample table room,
swings, and every provision for comfort and

THE ADVANTAGES OF MY SPETACLES
OVER ALL OTHERS ARE THESE:
Ist 1 hey are the only perfect Lense in cxistance
having the cones of each surface exactly oppo
site to each other and being of uniform density,
are rendered nearly free frsm chromatic sub
stances and prismatic lights, points of the ut
most importance in the construction of Specta
cles and Lens.
-d—They have a great superiority over glass, and
are unequalled for clearness, and also for cool,
ness to the eye.
Gd—They can lie worn with perfect ease for any
length ©f time at one sitting; giving astonish
ing clearness of vision, particularly by candle
or artificial light, and great comfort to the spec
tacle wearer.
4th—When the eyes pain or aclto from the action of
light, and in reading, writing, or sewing on
vivid colored bodies, these Lenses, by softening
the rays, all'ect the most aggreable sensation to
the eye.
nth In all nervous affection of the eye—causing
dull or startling pains in the eyeballs or temples]
appearance of luminous or dark spots in atmo
sphere, aching, or feeling like sand in the eyes
—the disturbed nerves are quieted, soothed,
combosed, and entirely restored.
The importance of the subject, as introduced by
the subscriber, has been fully acknowledged hv the
highest authority, and these Spectacles are now
used by the most eminent Faculty, and at all the in
stitutions for diseases of the Eyes in this country
and in Europe.
