Several of Towanda's good shots went to Leßaysville on Saturday und had a friendly eontest with the Leßaysville team. The lat ter came off victorious. Ilaye you noticed those handsome windows at C. F. Cross'book store? If not, go there and inspect them; then do thou likewise by decorating your transom and side lights around your front door, or a hath room win dow, or perhaps an office window, or iu fact any glass in store, house or office that needs shading from the sun, and still receive the benefit of all the light. Many of our citizens are availing themselves of an inexpensive and handsome decoration, by using " Lum Smith's Imitation Stained Glass," for which we have the exclusive agency of Northern Pennsylvania,, and a great variety of paterns on hand testify to the fact that we can please auy who may favor us with calls in that line. Monroe. Rev. E. E. Morris of Mainsburg, former pastor of the M. E. Church in this place, oc cupied the pulpit here on Sunday. He drew a full house. His discourse was founded on the last verse in the old testament, and en joined the duty of doing more for the eleva tion of the coming man, who is so soon to be our congressman, senators, judges and presi dents, and the trainers as well as producers of the generation that is to follow them. His theme was well selected He is a genial, hearty looking Englishman, whose worst sickness must have been the tooth-ache. Such men wear like iron. If the discipline would permit it, he could come here for another term quite acceptably. Our valued friend Thomas Smiley of Green wood, or a little above, has had a hard win ter and spring, from general rheumatic troubles. We are sorry to record that he is not doing well now. He is one of the men that was made before there was so much shoddy put iu the composition as at present. The republican party and his neighborhood can't spare him yet awhile. It is all right to pray a little in such cases, and see if there cannot be "added to his days fifteen years," also. The hack business twice a day each way betwixt Towanda and Monroe is now owned by Edgar Smith, Esq., and managed with great faithfulness to all matters intrusted to his care, and with courtesy and affability to all. Y., is in town and will call on our citizens.
