BRADFORD BAPIIST ASSOCIATION.— The forty-ninth annual meeting of this body will he held with the Troy Baptist Church next week Tuesday, June 21, commencing at 2 p. m. Daily sessions till Thursday noon the 23d. Miss STELLA, daughter of IRA DAVENPORT, died at the residence of her father in Plym outh this morning, aged 20 years. Her death was the result of a severe told, culminating in lung fever. She was an accomplished young lady, and will be sadly missed among her numerous relatives and friends.— Wilkes- Havre Leader. The young lady was a niece of Mrs. FRANK GREGG, of Towunua town ship. The ladies of the Baptist Church will give a Strawberry and lee Cream Festival in the store lately occupied by Powell & Co., on Friday evening, June IT. They earnestly re quest the patronage of the people. It has been a number of years since they made such a request and they would seem to have some claim upon the town. An admission fee of ten cents will lie charged. '• Commencement Week" at Lafayette Col lege, Easton, occurs the last of this month, June 20—30. This honored old institution possesses great interest for the people of this county from the fact that many of her gradu ates are tilling responsible positions as minis ters, lawyers and business men in our midst, one honored member of the faculty—Prof. OWEN, is a native of Bradford, and others are known and revered here. The exercises next week will lie highly interesting. On Sundoy evening June 20, Rev. DANID CRAFT, Class of '57, of Wyalusing, will preach a dis course before the Christian Brotherhood. — To accommodate all who may desire to at tend the exercises, the Lehigh Valley rail road w'.il sell excursion tickets at Towanda and other stations. THE NEW ORLEANS MINSTRELS.—A line, large audience greeted the appearance of the minstrels at City Hall last night, and the uni versal expression was, the best IU that line ever seen in this city. The clog dancing, the chorus singing, the quartette, the solos, both vocal aud Instrumental, w r ere immense, the comiealties were fresh and good, while E-ilat solo playing by Mr. Benjamin was simply marvelous, he reaching G on the fourth add ed line above the staft', with a tone like that piccolo flute, and an execution corres ponding. Miss Nellie Gorton rendered, as a baritone solo, " Swanee River," with ar'istic variations, responding to an enthusiastic en core with " Genevive," also with variations.— Mr. G. W. Franckum's claionet solo was a brilliant renditiou.— Daily Telegraph, Alton 111. This famous company will appear in Mcr cur Hall Friday evening this week. Aihens llems. The exercises yesterday were very inter esting, and Prof. Benedict may well feel proud of his graduating class. They numbered four gentlemen and one lady, and by their orations and manner betokened thorough drill and study. Miss Mary Coleman lead an essay of unus ual merit. The gentlemen of the class were Frank Potter, Will Heavner, Frank L. Easterbrooks a id his brother Geo. L., who delivered the valedictory. Profs. Burgan and Quinlan were present as were other gentlemen of education, son e from a distance. The declamations of the Junior class were good, and the management from the first to last, commendable. Flowers were abundant ly bestowed in tlie old fashioned manner of throwing. We extend congratulations to teachers and pupils. WILL. Athens, June 14. DIED. lIOETON —At Tsrrytown, May 10, 4381, Mrs. Martha Ana, wife of Euniun 1 Ilorton, aged ti.J years. The deceased was born in Milfiin county, and was the only daughter of Robert Robinson, dec'd, of Lewiston. She was a kind and affectionate mother, charitable to the poor, and was highly esteemed by all who knew Iter. She was con verted some years ago, and lived and died a Chris tain. A few days before her death she called her family around her and made arrangements for her burial, and then passed quietly away to a li ippicr world.
