REVIEW—Your little daily is a ray of light from the scene of my happiest days. My childhood and youthful efforts were on the banks of the beloved Susquehanna, which since I have left this b2autiful stream, is doubly dear to me. I long to bask in the sunsbine and shadows of my native State uay by day; my passion for angling and hunting add to my desire to go home from time to time. There are yet still dearer ties that draw me to the old playgrounds; my mother's grave, where flowers blossom and shed sweet perfumes, emblematic of her many virtues and sweet disposition, the faces of my rela tives aud dear friends, familiar rocks, streams mountains, and the dear, dear old homestead. It seems to me now that I can almost count every stone for miles around the hills and valleys of Wyalusing, aud know the limbs of the trees by heart. Twenty years have gone, and the changes death and decay have wrought are many. To enumerate them would open wounded hearts and cause them to bleed afresh. Let us then only behold the bright side of the picture, changes by time put forth. The thought that the seed must needs die that life may come out of the germ, points with power to our only hope, that Heaven awaits the reunion of us all in the sweet bye and bye. I expect with several other Syracusans to spend a week or so in Wyalusing in June. We intend to put up with J. M. Brown aud put in full time fishing for black bass. This city was alive with people yesterday. The decoration cerqmonies were impressive and grand; more than 10,000 people congre gated at Oak Wood Cemetery. Bishop Sims, Chaucelor of Syracuse University, delivered the address. Business is booming here; building and improvements going on with a rush; lots of money and lots of push in our moneyed men. Syracuse is destined to become a large and prosperous city in the near future. The salt interest might be better, perhaps it will after a while. Manufacture of steel springs, &c., by W. A. Sweet & Co., and chilled plows by Bradley b Co. show much enterprise. The electric light has been introduced and the works are now ruu day aud light. Our parks aud drives are lovely; the coun try all around us never looked more lovely. An excursion from Bradford county to this city would afford the greatest pleasure to all, especially the young people. The most of us are administration men. Samuel Adams is doing a good business here handling the Loyal Sock coal. Sam is a gentlemau. My youngest son, Ward, broke his right arm yesterday forenoon. The fracture was midway between elbow and wrist, both bones; he is doing well. We hope to see all our old friends up this way. M. M. B. Syracuse, N. Y., May 31,1881.
