Tli© Daily Heview. Towanda, Pa., Thursday, April 21,1881. KDITORS. B. W. ALVORD. NOBLE N. ALVORD. " Daily Review" only SIS centt per month. Wry it. Col. E. A. L. Roberts's Will. The Titusville Petroleum World of last Wednesday says: "Of course it is un derstood in this city that owing to a cer tain circumstance which need not now be eidarged upon a separation took place be- tween Col. E. A. L. Roberts and his wife and that proceedings in divorce had be gun in the courts of this eonnty by the lalterfora legal separation and main tenance for herself and her children—two daughters aged 8 and 10 yeans respective ly. The Will now produced by Mr. Win ship was dated October 17, 1877, a few months after the separation referred to, and reflects the feelings entertained at that time towards his family. We have not been allowed to see a copy of the will, but we are informed l>y a gentleman who has read it, that he bequeaths all his real estate to his nephews and nieces, and except a few trifling bequests, all the rest of his properly to his nephew, Owen M. Roberts, of Bradford. During the past few months his broth er, Dr. VY. B. Roberts, and his legaL" ad viser, Mr. Wiuship, both labored with him to modify his will so as to provide for his children. In his correspondence with Mr Winship a few days before his death, he instructed that gehtlemau to prepare a codicil in accordance with these views, but he did not live to execute it. For these reasons the parties interested have come together, and in a praisewor thy spirit, have mutually agreed that the will shall be modified so far as the be quest to Mr. Owen M. Roberts is con cerned, and that instead of a contest in the courts to break the will, in the inter est of justice to the little daughters of the deceased, Mr. Owen Roberts, con sented to share the estate equally with these children, share and share alike. This conclusion, it is believed, is satis factory to all the parties interested, and the necessary papers will he tiled in the Orphan's Court, at Meadville, to carry out tiie terms of this agreement. In this arrangement, and in all of the negotiations which have led to it, Mr. Owen Roberts has been represented by Jas. Winship Esq., of Buffalo, and the daughters of Col. Roberts, by their Guar dian, Hon. Hugh Young, of Wellsboro, Pa., who have been in this city for some days past. It is understood that the widow of the deceased elects to retain her dower interests under the laws of this Commonwealth ; and that Mr. Owen Roberts will administer the estate as ex ecutor, under the advice and supervision Of Mr. Winship. Col. Roberts was reputed to be one of the wealthiest men in the State. He had for some years before his, death derived a large revenue from the royalty ou his patents of torpedoes used in oil wells. The Philadelphia Evening News pub lishes two very important letters from London, addressed to Colonel John W. Forney, giving him what may turn out to be a most important clue to the where abouts of Charlie Itoss. The writers are gentlemen of recognized social standing, and write to the following effect: A boy was at school near London with a woman who always kept veiled and called her boy George. The boy himself said his name was ''Charlie Itoss," and that he was brought from America in a big Ship and told the woman, in the presence Of other children, "Go away, you are not my mamma. Mamma is a lady who is in America." The clue will be followed up St once. Senor Castelar has issued addresses an nouncing that in the coming election in Spain he does not seek the support of the advanced Republicans and Democratic pajties. lie regards the policy of ihc poesent Government as favorable to the cause of liberty. It is believed that the object of the Mexican authorities in sending troops to El Paso is to check ruffianism there and not to oppose the buiding of railroads.
