The selection is an excellent one for the hotel. JAMES MACFARLANE, Esq., and Judge RUSSELL, who had been attending court in Wellsboro as witnesses in the bridge suit, returned Tuesday evening. We regret to learn that I)r. 11. K. SMITH who lias been an invalid from consumption for the past two years, now lias strong symp toms of Rrigbt's disease. He is at bis grand mother's in Middlotown, N. Y. ED. LYNCH lias disposed of bis interest in the Third Ward grocery store, and taken a situation with PATCH & TRACY. He proposes moving bis family to Wilkcsbarre.as his time will be mostly occupied in that section. I). A. LAMENT, who has been engaged in the sew ing machine business here for several years past, contemplates moving to Troy township this spring to engage in farming. Roth himself and wife will .be greatly missed by a large circle of friends in this place. The MESSERSMITII brothers who for several years past have run the river ferry at Wya. lusing, will give it up on April Ist as their lease then expires. A gentleman who lias observed the habits of the different species of birds says the black bird seldom makes its appearance in this lati tude until about the time warm weather sets in. He noticed one of these feathered speci mens on a tree near his residence yesterday. The entertainment at the M. E. Church last evening was a very enjoyable affair and was well patronized. A particularly pleasant fea ture of the evening was the recitation of RES SIE VINCENT, who recited an exceedingly difficult piece without a blunder, and the dec lamation of Master KYSKR, who did remark ably well. The playing and singing was lis tened to with great pleasure. At the conclu sion of the concert ice cream and cake were served. We judge the receipts must have been rpiitc handsome. The young ladies who projected and carried the programme, in the interest of an invalid member of the Sunday School, deserve great credit.
