WRATHKR INDICATIONS FOR TO-DAY.—
Fair, preceded in extreme northern parts by
occasional rain or snow, stationary or lower
tempt rature.
There appears to be quite a demand for
dwelling houses this Spring. The best and
quickest way to secure either a house or a
tenant is to advertise in the REVIEW.
Mr. J. 1). SWAIN, whose wife was buried
yesterday, lias himself been an invalid for
several years past, and had hard work to keep
his small family supplied with the necessaries
of life under the most favorable circumstances
and the protracted illness of his wife had run
him in debt. To relieve him. and at the same
time give expression to practical christian
sympathy. Policeman DIMMOCK and S. DECK
ER submitted the case to some of our good
people and raised the generous sum of slll
to relieve bis present financial embarrassment.
We notice in the show window of BF.MENT
& DAVENPORT some exquisitely painted
cards, the work of Mrs. W. N. EASTABROOK.
There are twelve of them and each consists
of bunches of flowers most delicately arrang
ed around an inscription which reads "Patri
archs, Souvenir 1881." We are informed that
"Patriarch" is the name of a social club of
twelve gentlemen of whom Mr. EASTABROOK
is one, and that upon the occasion of their
meeting at Mr. EAST ABROOK'S home these
beautiful cards were presented to them by the
lady whose work they are. They certainly
are very choice bits of nature, and prove Mrs.
E. to possess great merit as an artist, a fact
which is becoming to be fully appreciated by
her friends.— Elmira Adv.
Mr. E. formerly resided in this place.
The sale of the GOODRICH property has at
last been consuinated and a deed executed.—
M. 11. LAXING was the purchaser and imme
diately presented it to his daughter, Mrs. C.
B. PORTER. The purchase includes not only
the real estate, but a large amount of lawn
fixtures, all the carpets, chandileres, large
mirror, one bed-room set, furnace, range, Ac.
The price paid was $9425. It is not often
that a seller of property refuses the money
for it. but in this instance the heirs stipulated
that the larger portion of the purchase money
shall remain as a lien 011 the property. To
this the purchaser reluctantly consented.—
Mr. PORTER is lo take possession about the
first of May. We congratulate him and his
gocul wife 011 securing for a home one of the
finest residences in Towanda, which has been
greatly enhanced in value by the judicious ex
penditure of money in keeping it in the very
best repair, as well as by the display of un
usual aesthetic taste in all the appointment?
of the elegant premises.
