There is a general strike of railroad men, miners and machinists in St. Louis; hut there is a disposition to accede to their demands. This week is called Passion Week or Holy Week in the Episcopal and Catholic churches. In the latter Lurches the p'ctureH and ornaments are hidden with purple covering. Scandal-mongers are enjoying a rich feast just at this time.
