Mr. Vest said in the senate, yesterday, that Indian Territory could not remain much longer a blank on the map of civi lization. Mr. Regan, on the floor of the House, yesterday, defended himself against the attacks made on him by the New York Sun in regard to the inter-State com merce bill. It is reyorted at Washington that the Grant managers will try to make Senator Conkling president of the Chicago Con vention. St. John's Episcopal congregation of Dundee, Scotland, have unanimously voted to secede to the Reformed Episco pal Church. The majority roport in the Curtin- Yecum case was presented to the House yesterday. It declared the election null and void and remits the question to the people of the district. Joseph Seafert, aged se> enty-four, died at his home in Milford, Pike Co., Monday night. Within the past week seven per sons have died there whose aggregate ages amount to four hundreu and ninety-one years. It is rumored that the English converts to the Church of Rome contemplate rais ing subscriptions to the amout of $1,250,- 000 for the purpose of erecting oil the Thames a metropolitan Roman Catholic Cathedral which shall rival St. Paul's in grandeur. Senators Edmunds and Thurman had a bright little passage of arms the other day. In executive session Thurman was quietly listening and smoking when Edmunds ob jected to the confirmation of a certain Ohia nominee. Thurman putting aside his cigar and springing to his feet, said; "Mr. President, I had not intended to say a single word upon this matter, but the Senator from Veimont has thrown a brick at an Ohio man, and I must resent that." M. Edmunds, with assumed seriousness, retorted, "You can't thorw a brick in any direction these duys without hitting an Ohio mau.," The Eugenie's visit to Zulu land will be so arranged that she will reach the spot where her son fell at the very hour of the struggle and death. The Empress, in a recent Interview with a French Journalist, pointed out that the wounds on the Prince's arm attested the fierceness with which he defended him self.
