advertisements in to-days REVIEW.
To-morrow will he the 194t1i anniversary;
of the birth of FRANK I.IN.
A new Episcopal diocese is proposed to be i
erected out of a portion of Central Pennsvlva- '
ilia, and to he composed of the counties of j
Lycoming. Clinton, Centre, Tioga. Potter, I
Northumberland, Montour. Columbia. Union
and Snyder. These counties now, by canon, !
form the convocation of Williamsport, and if J
the proposition is favorably acted upon, the j
diocese' will probably be known a< that of I
Williomsport.
We print on our 3d page to-day notes on the j
International S. S. lessons, helieveing they j
will prove beneficial to many of our readers, j
especially those engaged in the Sunday School I
w >rk. The notes are copied from the New j
York Observer, one of the very best family i
pap TS, primed in this country, and touchers
will find them very accurate. We hope to; ;
continue their publication from week to !
week, and if we do so, we shall hereafter |
give them on Wednesday, so that reachers
and scholars can have opportunity to study I
them. >;
We take it all back. A few days since in j
referring to some beef brought to this market I
from New York, we drew a comparison
unfavorable to the beef-cattle of this county-, •;
but our attention was directed LA-T evening to I
the dressed quarters of a teer at JORDAN'S J
market, which could not B" excelled BV the |
best western fed cuttle. The anninnl was of
the short-horn breed, and was raised and
fattened by G. 11. WELLES, Esq.. of Wya-
Itising. The hind quarters are completely I
covered with a coating of fat. and give evi
dence that Mr. W.'s herd are bountifully fed ;
and well cared for. We almost envy the !
fortunate customers of Mr. MLLLOCK to-day, j
as they will be served with cuts of this deli
i
clous meat..
