ALTAR Fund of SIO,OOO for Increase of Diocese Endowment to Be Raised by Tuesday CELEBRATION OPENS MONDAY Clergymen ind Layment of Protestant Episcopal Church Coining Here for Three Day Anniversary Observance and Annual Convention The observance of t'he tenth anniver sary of the formation of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of Harrisburg and tihe consecration of ißishop James Henry Darlington, 011 .Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, will be t'he occasion of the raising of SIO,OOO for the increase of the Church '3 endowment fund. Arrangements for the celebra tion, including rtiis feature, were made at the diocese convention held last 'May at. Lancaster, at which t'he following re port was presented bv General C. M. 'Clement, chairman of the special com mittee 011 the tenth anniversary: Proper Observance Planned "The special committee appointed at the last convention to prepare for tihe proper observance of the tenth anniver sary of the consecration of the Bishop of the Diocese respectfully reports: 1 "That t'liey are of the opinion that t'he tenth anniversary of the consecra tion of Bishop Darlington slu.uld be duly observed to raise a substantial fund of not less than SIO,OOO for the increase of the endowment, tihe fund to be held intact, the interest thereof to be applied by the trustees of that fund in t'he reduction of assessments. In the event of a division of the Dio cese the fund to be equitably divided between the two parts of the Diocese. "If SIO,OOO could be raised in this way the interest of it could be ap plied in reduction of all assessments such deduction to be made expressly from t'he 'Bis'hop Darlington Memorial Fund. "Your committee are of the opinion, although it was not committed to thean, that the Dioeese at the same time could well celebrate the tenth anniver sary of its existence and of its wonder ful growth and development under the guiding 'hand of our Bishop. "St. Mark's day, the exact anni versary of the Bishop's consecration, falls on Sunday in 1913 and is just about two weeks ahead of the conven- I tion which Will meet in the Oity of | Harrisburg. The committee are of the I opinion that it would 'be advisable to hold this celebration in connection with the annual convention rather than to take the people from tiheir home churches on St. Mark's day." Pledges Collected by Tuesday The pledges for the endowment fund are 'to be gathered in time to be placed upon the altar at the anniversary serv ice at St. Stephen's eiburch next Tues day morning. One of the largest par ishes in the Diocese is reported to have guarnteed through its vestry a sum equal to the apportionment for general missions. The pledges, which are ex fected to total SIO,OOO, may be re deemed wit'hin a year. The tent'h anniversary is to 'be ob served in connection with the eleventh annual convention of the Harrisburg diocese, to be 'heOd in St. Stephen 's c'hurch. There will also be a celebration of the tent'h anniversary of the formation of the Diocesan Branch of the Woman's Auxiliary to the 'Board of Missions in St. Andrew's parish house on Wednes day at 11.30 o'clock. There will be a conference at 12.30 o'clock. Topics to be discussed wiil include central meet ings, their object and advantages and t'he experiences of those Who have tried tihem.
