By Associated I'rcirb.
New York, March 17.—Indecision
was the keynote of to-day's early stock
market, the principal issues showing lit
tle change from yesterday's reactionary
tendency. Heading, whose directors
meet to-day for dividend action, reced

8. Steel and somo of the motor i>to.:ks
were lower, while Bethlehem steel reso
to 51%. Trading was small, with a
narrow range.
The list improved toward midday,
after further irregularity in Canadian
Pacific, and some of the specialties.
Reading rose a full point above its low
quotation and bhe leaders displayed a
little more animation, but trading v as
in decreasing volume. Arrival of an
other consignment of gold from Canada
and indications of additional improve
ment from ther sources were among the
incidents of the early session. Naval
news from abroad seemed to ex?ite lit
tle interest.
Bonds were irregular. Northern Pa
cific 4s advancing, despite further
heavy sales. Chicago and Eastern Illi
nois 5s added four points to their re
cent 5-point decline.
