added that they stand ready when
called upon to do anything in that
lino that they can. None of the po

forestry reservations, except two who
are a)t Mont Alto looking out for viola
tors of tlie game laws.
At the State Forestry Department it
was said by Deputy Commissioner Wil
liams that the forest lircs have as yet
reached but one place on the State re
serves, and that is in Perry county.
The Doubling Cfa>p Springs hotel is on
the Perry-Cumberland line.
The fire in Perry county, as reported
to'the department, is near the Franklin
county line, but its wide spread is not
considered likely, as the Htate foresters
have fbeen called out and the rangers
are at work making a gallant fight.
In eases of forest lires the township
oflicials are all required to lend a hand,
and any Stato employes in the vicinity
are supposed to help, which include
game wardens, fish wardens, constables,
police or anybody in commission.
The Doubling ( Gap fire is on private
grounds, but the rangers and foresters
are engaged in fighting it just the same.
Over 5,000 acres are reported to have
been destroyed This is not full grown
timber, (but, principally underbrush and
young growth.
