Elmira Advertiser, that the Morris Run Coal
Compaiy will have mined and sent to market
400,000 tons of coal during tIM year ending, Jan.

THE FAlR.—Lagging arrangements,
gefieral apathy, and troubled skies combined to.
render the success of the Agricultural) Society's
Fair somewhat a matter of doubt for some days
preceding the opening gay. But it giv us much
pleasure to chronicle the fact that all inauspicious
Signs failed. The entries 'for premiu reached
orer7ooby Wednesday afternoon, and l tho' re
ceipts overran $3OO. It was a lovely day, and
the prefi l ence of persons from distant townships
gave assurance of a full day on Thursday, which
dawned with a promise of Eno weather happily
and entirely fulfilled. The entries of 'horses
reached 00; of cattle, .11 ; of dairy prildncts 10;
of field crops 3 ; garden vegetables_ 57 ; grain 8 ;
fruits 28; agricultural implements 17; mechani
cal department 7 ; household and domestic 14
flowers and paintings 10 ; and 06 entries discre-

There were many fine horses, and the exhibit
ot cattle was nearly as good as wo over saw jn_
ibis region. Where there was competition we

Bentley bad .52 varieties ()topples, Oof pears, and
1 of grape;, Henry Griffis,, of Charleston, had
14 varieties of apples, and B of grapes. Nelson
Whituey, also of Charleston, had a fine lot of
fruit. Werinoticed several other fine lots, but
could not find the owners. The exhibit of cheese
ficru Delmar and Charleston Factories, and
