I gracefully arose and said :

She fixed her glassy eyes on me and
said:

After much labor"l succeeded in un
loosening her - hold and sot her down in
a chair. I judged front her conduekt
that she stood in need of a few moral
observations.
" You air an impulsivo female," I

neous and outbreak in'. You_ need a
pair of martingails. Consider what
would be your• state of a man's wife was
to catch you a huggin' of him in this
style."
She wiped her face with her dress.
She had on a dress. I forgot to men

With these Words I arose, and tellin'
her to set still until my return I stole
softly down stairs. I have not been
back. since. What will be the effect of
leavin' a fernall agitator sittin' in my
seat the whole of this time I no not,
but if she waits until I go back her pa
tience will be of cast iron.
"Your wife's fat, but she's not hand
some, Smith." _
• "Mel], Jones, that's expressing your
opinion plump and plain, anyhow."
"You are right, Smith ; that's exactly
my opinion ; ' she's very plump and
plain."

recaiing patents through this Department.—
