Tim first signature above is in Washington's
handwriting. This autograph ought to-have no
money value to the family; but it would sell for,
a pretty price in market. Accompanying these
papers is a "Continental promise to pay sft to
bearer, and a Massachusetts shinplaster for 'sB.
The descendants should frame the discharge and
preserve the samples of Continental cash. Those
old relics of "the times that tried men's souls"
arc scarce and priceless. The pension papers
are signed by Calhoun.
CHATHAM LOCAL.—Our people cel
ebrated the 3d with the usual combustion of
gunpowder, rind some horse cueing.
Presiding Elder Cochran met with tho Quar
