TEMPERANCE CELEBRATION. The
Good Templets propose to unitein a celebration
at Lawrenceville, July 2. Extensive preparations
are on foot.to_runder the demonstration imposing
and effective. The fact that lion. S. B. Chase,
0. W. C. T., of the Qrder in Pennsylvania is to
be present and deliver the Address, 'will nttraet
all who wish to hear one of- the most •offective
champions of Temperance. The point is stdmi
ably chosen, and the substitution of Cold water
for whisky in a celebration of the nation's birth
day strikes assns a measure most rildical. It
to be hoped that every Templar who can go' will
be an th , ) ground, as well ,as the himdreds of
temperance men and women who are not con
nected with any organization. Let the... occasion
be one to be remembered in the annals of tem
perance.
TFIE ByTTEIL ,M . A.R.ERS.'— "Mrs. B.
M.," writes us from Michell's Creek as follows:
" were interested, last Fall, in tho account
published by. you, of the amount of butter !Made
by some of our Tioga County Butter Makers,
and thought pethapo some of your readers would
be interested to know how much some 'others
have made. Last year wo - pilked two cows, one
three the other eight or nine years , old,' from
which ve made three hundred and thirteen
panda of Butter, besides using bream freely on
rtrawberries and for other purposes. The hot,
dry weather, and our cellar both being very un
favorable part of the time. This year we made
during the month of May, from the same cows,
eighty-eight and - three-fourth iounds of nice buil
batter. In addition to this wo sold seventy cents
worth of milk, besides the cream that was used
in a small family.,his was done without in
fringing on the preeeding or succeeding months."
—Perhaps somela'ody can'think of a, more profi
table way to invest $lOO than in two cows. Nilo
can't.
