With the glorious light.of, victory. .Accordingly,,
On very short notice, Capt. Carvey, commanding
the Legion, summoned his forces to assemble in
the League Room at dusk, and prepare for the
work. In forty minutes one hundred men issued
from the League-Boom, attired. 1,4 at; ettps r and

and the affair was so well managed by - Capt.
Carvoy and his lieutenants that the company
looked like a regi ent as it passdd down the
street, the sides of w ere lined with epee 7
tators. . Meantime the firing--rty,c under- the
skillful direction of Mr. W. Bullard, fired a salute
'of twenty-five guns on the Public Square. The
procession having returned to the Avenue was
formed in a circle around the Grant .t Colfax
flag, and , thy : , whole joined in sioging
toynd the with: trierheq: *greet,: 4,i1410,
close of the singing three hearty cheers were
given for Vermont, three for Maine, three fur
Grant, and three for the Flag of the Free. The
.procession then marched up Main.st., to Lincoln,
hp the latter to Pearl, down Pearl and by King
at., to Main, halting in two battalions before the
residence of Judge Williams, who, being called
for, appeared, and , Made a' neat congratulatory
speech touching the, splendid victories in Ver

compliment. ' Threo hearty cheers - were' given
ferihe Judge, and the 'procession resumed its
march, passing down ,Main and out upon- the
State Road, and returning to - Main. Here the
-order of march was changed, the' procession
formed in column by division, and marched up
Main-st., to
_thef League - Booms: where, after
eheers for Grant, and Capt.' CarVey, 'the coin

Legion deem() much credit for the ease with
which they dandled the company of irregulars.
