ACCIDENT.- 1 -Mr. William Carroll, of

this village metvcith a serious accident on Thurs
day of last week. He was working nround Vann
Horn's Planing Machine, when his rhYlit hand
was caught between a hoard and the feed rollers
and so badly smashed as to necessitate the am
putation of three fingers below the second joint
As Mr. Carroll is dependent upon the labor of
his hands for support, this isa serious accident to
him.
It is undoubtedly cheaper to employ some one
familiar with machinery than to undertake work
around machines moved by power. There is al
ways risk 'and often. as in this ease, serioussdatn
age, to persons not accustomed to operdo ma
chinery.

visions of See. 9th of tbo A et approvod July

or enumerations, made under the Internal Rev--
enue Laws, and taken by the several Assistant
Assessors of this District, will remain open at
their offices for the space of ten days prior to (ha
date (Lied to hear appeals, for the examination of
all persons interested.
The Assessor will receive and determine ap
peal relative to eroneous or excessiva valuations,

right of D. B. Stirdevant's Milk Shelves ,th
Provision Rack for Tioga County, is prepared to
sell Township or individual rights at fair rates.
This' Rack is portable and so arranged that it
can be taken apart and put together again in five
minutes. It occupies lees than fourfeet- square
of a room, and .can be placed In the kitcera. in
cold weather, and in the collar in warm weather;
and will hold fron 72 to 84 pane of milk. The
shelves aro made in skelZton form so as to allow
the free circulation of air all around the pans.
It has been proved that milk will raise more
cream, and keep from four to six hours longor
than on ordinary s helves.
Each shelf turns by itself independent of the
other, so that the cream of the former milking ie
not disturbed by the removal or putting on of
paps. Tho frame is such that it can be readi
ly Covered with a cloth or gauze, effectually ex
cluding insects or dusL It is a complete arrange
ment to dry fruit upon. The subscriber will soon
visit different parts of the County with a model
of this rack, or ho can be addressed at Welisboro,
by •those desiring to purchase Township or indi
vidual rights. Specimens_can also be seen at the
Foundry building of Soars 1.5 Williams iii this
'Borough at any time atter the middle of March.
