No LIoENSE.—The final hearing for
t o applicants for license to sell intoxicating
drinks in Wellslioro, Mansfield, and Middlebury
was held on Thursday afternoon, Gth Inst., Judge
H. W. Williams mid Atetociate Veil on the Bench.
After a. protracted'and patient hearing of the pe
titionc.rb and renonqrants, he evidence and by
coup=e), the Court' refused grant license in the
eases submitted, and revoked the licen , e of E.,11.
Kimball on proof ofviolati;"n of that section of
the statute forbidding the bale of liquors to
minors.
The Court held, that under the law of 1867-it
was bound to obey the voice of public sentiment,
due regard to the weight and character of peti
tions for and against license being prescribed by
the statute. The Wellshor3 cases only. however,
were cmside;ed under this rule, evidence of vio
lations of the statute in l the Middlebury .aud
Mansfield eases having been produced, in view of
which the Court lied no option but to refuse the
licenses. 'The Court is entitled to the gratitude
of the friends of temperance and order for thus
extending the means of salvation from moral*-

During late years the publio have been mis ed
by large bottles, pretending to give a quay of
Extract of Sarsaparilla for ono dollar. Most o r
these have'been frauds upon the sick, for they
not only / contain little, if any, Sarsaparilla, but
often no curative ingredient whatever, Hence,
bitter disappointmiint followed the use of the
various extracts of Sarsaparilla which toad the
market, until the name itself hasbecome synony

this compound, "Sarsaparilla,' and intend to ,
supply such a remedy as shall rescue the • name
