FIEST COMMENCEMENT ANNFVERSA
RE OF STATE. NortliAL SCIIOOL AT MANSFIEL3I.
Thursday of last week will constitute a. sunny
day in the calendar of the Mansfield-Normal
School, being'the first Commencement Anniver
sary of tbe institution under the patronage of the
State. The greatest triumph of teachere and pu
pils, however, marked the previous week, when
the entire graduating class of fifteen was subjec-,
ted to a most rigid examination by Professors
Wickersham, Cooper, and Allen, Principals of the
State Normal schools of the second, twelfth and
fifth districts, respectilvely,-ia the presence of all
the County Superintendents of this Normal school
district. The impiitance of -this triumph will be
seen, when we state that it is the only graduating
class in the Normal echools of the State which
passed the ordeal—all the others, being rejected..
No higher praise Can be awarded the Faculty of
the Mansfield school than the mere mention of
this fact. It places them first !among educators
in the Commonwealth.
The' Commencement exercises of Thursday
.
were conducted in presence of a large audience
of the friends and patrons of the school, • and
proved among the most interesting we ever lis
