ONCE Moat:—yl i e ask patrons to remember,
that our space is limited); and that therefore it is
not possible for us to 'prfnt obituary notices gratis.
These, in their nature, are personal rather than
of general interest; and Are cannot longer fprac

Senceforth the charge for obituaries of more than
35 words will- be one cent -per word. Simple an

Tee Revivs.t... —The religious awakenfig, the
progress of which, Were

from time to time noted, appears to be quite gen-

is deliberate, rather than violent, showing that it
is reaching the consciences rather than the vari
able emotional natures of men alid women.

vides that cashiers of all banks in the State shall
collect, annually, froni every stockholder in,their
respective banks, a tax of one per cent. upon-the
par value of the stock held by said stockholder,
and pay the same into the State treasury on or
before the first day of July of every year. com
meaning with the current year, : said stoik to be
exempt from all other taxation under State laws.
Section 2 provides that every railroad, canal,
or transportation company incorporated under the
laws or the State, and not liable - to income tax
under existing laws, shall pay a tax of_f of one
per cent= upon their gross receipts.
Section 3 provides that the" funds so raised be
applied to Ike payment vf the dihrcentracteti for
war purposes in 1881.
Section 4 exempts real estate from any levy of
tax for State purposes from and after the passage
of the Act.
Tide measure W4B bitterly fought by the Cop
perhead members of both Houses from its intro
duction up to the final passage. On the last vote
they whipped over and-went for it.
Tae. AMZSDE ,—We last week commended this

We simply inserted to : state that the place was so
desperately healthy ae to make it an object for
a marble worker to come here and live forever'.

matter ?" said' Abernethy, the gteat English cur
goon, to a cadaverous-looking patient, who had
called..to consult him. "Oh, nothing serious,"
was the reply, "my stomach and liver are out of
order, that's all.', "Do yon call that nothing se
rious?" said Abernethy; "I tell you, sir, that
when these two organs are out of order, as yen
call it, there's not a square inch of the body that
is not more or leas diseased, nor a drop of blood
in it that is in a healthful condition." Nothing
can be more true, therefore it is of the very high
est importance to keep the stomach and. liver in
a vigorous condition. If the one is weak and the
other irregular in its action, tone and control
