end expressed a hope that peace would be main

There was le" confidence in peace at Paris,
Vienna, and Turin, where warlike preparations
continued.
The meeting of the Pence Congress, it is gen
ermly supposed, will bo between the 16th and
20th of April.
The debate on the Reform hill was continued in
the House of Commons, Mr. Owen st fi niey gave
notice that in the event of the defeat of the Re

The belief le general that the ministry will be
defeated. The London rime.? thinks that the de•
feat will be so decisive as to leave no excuse for a
dissolution of Parliament, and an appeal to the
country.
Some of the journals of Saturday declare
that Lord Palmerston's speech bad saved the
ministry, as be said he would vote for the second
reading of the Reform bill, as well as for Lord
John Russel's resolution.
A vote was to be teken on the 31st. The Min
isters have staked their fate on the issue, The
Liberal journals consider their resignation cer

it is stated that half n million of muskets, of
an improved pattern, are being made for the
French army.
The French journals assume that Lord Cowley's
mission to Vienna has had nothing to do with the
Congress, and they credit Bessie with the prop
osition.
The London Star believes that Lord Maimes
bury has been appointed to represent England in
the Congress.
The Patris states that the Cabinets of London
and St. Petersburg have agreed to the proposal of
France to admit Piedmont, and there is hope that
the Cabinet of Berlin may also consent, in which
event Austria cannot refuse to grant the wish of
the great Powers.

Neuralgia.
A gentleman living in Philadelphia says:
,4 In passing through Pittsburgh, some months
since, I purchased a bottle of Dcerhave's Holland
Bitters. It relieved me so much, that on return
ing home I bought two more bottles from Dr.
Dyott, which completely cured me of Neuralgia.
I have recommended the article to many of my
friends, and four or five of the number say it
cured them. I think that my recommendation
has done more for its sale in Philadelphia than
your advertieing."

Mrs, Hardy, No. 110 Suffolk Street, writes us
that she has been troubled with worms for some
three years, and that she used one vial of Dr.
Bl'Lane's Celebrated Vermifuge, prepared by
Fleming Bros., Pittsburgh, Pa., which brought
away over fifty large worms. Her usual good
health immediately returned.
Mrs. Qulgby, No. 182 Essex Street, New York,
under date of November 23, 1852, writes us that
she had a child which been unwell for better than
two months. She procured a bottle of M'Lane's
Vermifuge, and administered it. The child
passed a large quantity of worms, and 'in a few
days was as hearty as ever it had been. Parenta,
with such testimony before them, should not
hesitate when there is any reason to suspect
Worms, and lose no time in procuring and ad
ministering Dr. M'Lane's Vermifuge. It never

The Losirg and Taking of Mangold;

LECTURES ON THE HOLY WAR
BY REV. A. 8. PATTON; A. M.
1 yet, I.2me. Price, $lBO.
This is a work that has long been, needed. Bunyan',
other great allegory has been the basis of a number of
popular and useful volumes of lectures, but this is the brat
suecomful attempt to unfold the wonderful teachings of the
Holy War.
It is finely illustrated with
BIGHT SPIRITED , ENGRAVINGB.
and will be found a book of rare interest.
Bonyan'e sublime allegories have done more, perhaps,
than any other uninspired books, to guide aright sinners to
the Saviour, and strengthen the faith of God's people.
Though many volumes of it- :tures have been written by
distinguished authors on the Pilgrim's Progress, this is the
first budanee we now remember of an attempt to explain
and enforce the lessons suggested by the "Holy Was."
The author has certainly accomplished hie task In a manner
worthy of lila greet theme. The book is got up in handsome
style, and must nicer with a rapid demand.—Nere York
Evangelist.
Bold, striking, and original in its handling of the subject,
It is a book that eau not fail to arrest the attention, and
make a 'deep impression on the reader. It brings out the
great work of salvation by the various steps of trial, suffer
ing, and joy, so that a whole body of practical theology is
here diecottied and important troth presented, so es to in..
.
etruct while it deeply interests the religions mind. It is a,
book for saint and sinner—for all who have souls t 3 bo loaf
or eaved.—New York Observer.
