campaign Ed/ition.
We will send the Aorr.freron from this date
until the close of the campaign, (November
13th,) to new subscribers, for• 25 CM , ITS
IN ADVANCE.
Tho paper will, during that time be mainly
devoted to the' discussion of the political
questions•of the dap,, and the unyielding
support of Republican principles and the
Republican nominees. Believing it will
prove an efficient worker in the good cause,
we ask mir friends to assist us in extending
its influence by increasing its circulation
during the campaign..
As the,Pripe at which it is offered baiely
covers the cos of white paper, printing and
tiers:
lion. Hamilton Ward, late member of
Congress from Allegany county; New York,
has been claimed for Greeley; but he has
written an able letter favpring Gr'alit's,,elee
tion. This fact is quite as "significant" as
Mr. Rollins's supposed defection was said
to be.
A large and enthusiastic convention of
soldiers and sailors was held in Utica, N.
Y., last week Tuesday. Here is part of the
creed of these men: " We believe that the
man who led us to victory, and the one who
watched over us from his place as chairman
of the Senate Milit wry' Committee,‘ and so,
carefully guarded our interests, are the best
men to rely on for justice to our maimed
comrades and the widows and orphans of
those who sacrificed their lives' in our late,
struggle for the preservation of the Union."
That reads like good, plain common sense.

neat way of putting it, but it is not origi

March, 1805, when he made his - Spe,ecb-on

Coronation Oration at:-IsleW Htt'ven.' At the
time, Theodore Tilton was horrified by the
evidence that Andy ,was drunk, when•in
fact belied only t4en a little "stimulant

history does repeat itself
Did President (Inuit neglect to invite
lied. Douglass to dinner? Aml if he did
neglect that gentleman, did Fred. feel bad
about It? And if Fred. didn't feel bad
about it, ought ho 'not to have felt bad?----
These are the questions which are 'now a-gl
inting the bosom of - the magnificent Charles
Sumner, Senator of the United States, and
in which the people are expected to be in
temely absorbed. Itntwe fear Charles has
deceived•bboself. We don't believe the
people care two rye straws whom the Presi:

care who combs the Senatorial locks since
a' certain &nestle secession. These mat

They leave that dirty work to high and
mighty Senators-like Sumner.

For member of Congress—Tioga county
names Dr. J. D. Mitchell—a gentleman of
most decided abilities, of fine cultivation,
and unquestionable integrity. As a Repro
aentative he would disehloge the duties pf,
that responsible office with credit to him
self and to-the District. A man of talent
and of eloquence, he would be heard in the
louse, and would make his mark there.—
Though no hack politician, if he shall be
finally nominated by the conferees of the
District, the Republicans . will feel that
they have, a etunlinate for whom it is an
honor to vote—one who will represent the
District with ability add unswerving po
litical and personal integrity.
Of Hon. S. 1 1 '.. Wilson, whom the Repub
licans of the county have nominated for As
sistant Law Jude,. it is hardly necessary to
speak at length. Ile is well and favorably
known to. the people of the county, and of
the District. In the State Senate for one
‘ term, in Congress for four years, and as in
eumbent of the office for which he is now
named, he has been thoroughly tried and
not_fotind wanting in nay element that, goei

people of the whole county know as well as

Hon. Jerome B.rNiles, who is nominated„
for Delegate to the Constifutional Conven

the county. He -may- be justly termed a
self-made man. Starting with no influen
