—Last week Tuesday,. the 18th- instant, was

At six o'clock in the evening the corner stone
of their new church edifice was laid with the:
customary ceremonies. At that hour the peo
ple gathered at the north-east corner of
,the,
building that is to be, and the services were
opened by the - choir chanting the 1224 Psalm.
The address end prayers set forth by the
church for, such occasions were then-preeced
ed with, and the stone was laiid by the Rect
or of the parish acting for the Bishop. ' The
stone was , ffnely carved with , ' the Cross, and
the WeriPtiPil "Pt. Alulren's Church;'

began eighteen hundred years ago among
the hills of Judea, and the chain mild be

lucid mannerthe history of the Church
from the time of the Apostles down to this
hour: He spoke of the beautiful temple they
were abut to erect as fit to be consecrated to
the service for which it was intended; not

The new church is to stand on the sight of
the old one, which was burned last year, on

and the fact that Mr. Henry Dudley, of New

The nave will be 00 x2O feet, the chance
about 16 x 18, the vestry south of the chancel.
12 x 9. The choir is just front of the chan
cel at the north-east corner of the nave, and
is about 12 feet wide. Moro are (lye bays

other. The tower is at the sotith-weSt (Truer
and is about 10 feet 0 inches square. Above
the bell deck it will be surmounted by a sla
ted spire running up 104 feet from the ground.

through the.towor. The 'whole cost is esti
