BIT RS.
Apure and powerful T'onie, Corrective and
Alterative of wonderful , efficacy in dis
ease of the Stomach, Liver and Bowels.—
Cures, Dyspepsia, Liver Complaint. Headache,
General Debility, Nervousness , Depression of
Spirits, Constipation, 'Colic. Iniermittent Fe
vers, Cramps and Spasms and all Complaints
of either Sex, arising from Bodily Weakness
whether inherent in the system or produced
by special causes.
Itothing that is not wholesome, genial and
restoralive in:its natio e enters into the com-
poiltion of Hostetter's Stomach Bitters. This
popular preparation contains no mineral of
any kind, no deadly botanical element; no
eery excitant; but it.is a combination of the
extracts of rare balsamic herbs and plants
with the purest and mildest of all diffusive
stimulants.-
It is well to be forearmed against disease,
and so far as the human system can he pro
tected by human means against inaladies en
gindsred by -asa unwholesome atmosphere.
impure water, and other external causes,Bos.
tatter's Bitters may be relied on as a safeguard.
'ln districts. infested with Fever and Ague.
•it has been found infallible as a preventive
and irrisistible as a remedy, and thousands
who resort to it under apprehension of an at:
tack, escape the seouige : and thousands :who
neglect to avail themselves of its protective
qualities in advance, are cured by a very
brief course of this marvelous medicine. Fer6r
and Ague patients, after being plied with
quinine for months in vain; until fairly satu
rated with that dangerous alkaloid, are not
unfrequently restored to health within a few
days by the use of Hostetter's Bitters.
The weak stomach is r.tpidly' invigorated
and the appetite restored by this agreeable
Tonic, and hence it wares wonders in cases'
•of Dispepsia., and in less confirmed farms of
ludigestion- Acting as a gentle and painless
apperient„. as well as upon the liver, it also
invariably relieves the Constipation superin
duced by irregular action of the digestive rind
aeeretive organs.
Persons df feeble habit liable to Nervous
Attacks, Lowndis of Spirits and Pits of Lan
guor, find prompt apd permanent relief from
• the Bitters. The testimony on thiS point:As
I most conclusive. and from both sexes. - ,
The agony of. Billions Colic is immediattily
Assuaged by a single dose of the stimuleht,
And by occasionally resorting to it, the return
of the complaint may be prevented,
As a General Tonic, Hostetter's Bitters pro
duce effects which must he experienced or
witnessed before they can be fully apprecia
ted. In cases of Constitut onal Weakness,
P,rematnre Occay and Debility and Decre'pi
rade arising from Old Age, it exercises the
electric influence. In the convalescent stakes
of all diseases it operates as a delightful in
yigorant. When the powers of nature Are re
laxed. it operates to re-enforce and re-estab
lish them.
Last. ; but not least, it is the enly safe Stim
ulent, being stianufactnred from sound and
innocuous materials, and entirely free from
the acid elements present wore or less in all
the ordinary tonics and stomachies of the day.
The immense increase in the sale of lit stet
ter's Bitters, both at home end abroad, during
the past year proves that the world; while if
obeys the Scriptural injunction tol-try aU
Thing=," only -Holds fast to that which is
good." Spurious preparations, like poisonous
fungi, are continually springing up, but their
character is soon discovered, and they, are
"flung like worthless weeds away " On the
other hand, a great antidote that performs all
it promises, and even more than its proprie•
tors claimed for it on its introduction, "is not
for a day, bat fir all time."
:Co tatnilv medicine has been so universally
and, it may be truly added. de.lervedly popu
lar with the intelligent portion of the commu
nity, as Hostetter's Bitters.

that - ail howls issued' Under this Act shill be
EXEMPT FROM TAXATION by or under any
state or municipal authority. Subscriptirini
to these Bonds are received in United States

of the Government, at any period not less than
ten nor snore than forty year.' 6om their date,
and until their redemption FIVE PER CENT.
INTEREST WILL BE PAID IN COlN,onßonds
of not over one hundred dollars annually and
all other Bonds semi-annually.- The. interest
is payable on the Ist days of March and Sep
tember in each year.
Subscribers will receive either Registered
or Coupon Roads, as they may prefer. Reg
istered Bonds are recordedon the books of the
11. S. Treasurer, and can be transferred only
on the the owner's order. Coupon Bonds are
payable to bearer, and are more convenient
for commercial uses
Subscribera.ty, this loan will have the option
of having their Bonds draw interest from
March Ist, by paying the tiecrued interest in
coin-Lior in Mated States notes, or the notes
of National Banks, adding fifty per cent. for
premium,} or receive them drawing interest
from the date of subscription and deposit._
these Bonds are
Exenipt from lifnuicipal or State Taxation.
their value is increased from one to three per
cent. per annum, according to the rate of tax
levies in variors parts of the country.
At the present rate of premium on gold they
L.ver Eight Per Cent. Interest,
in currency, and are of equal convenience az
a permanent or temporary Investment,
It is believed that no securities offer so
great inducements to lenders as the various
descriptions of U.S. Bonds. In all other fOrms
of indebtedness, the faith or ability of private
parties or stock companies or separate com
munities only is pledged for payment, while
for the debts of the United States the whole
property of the country is holden to secure
theyayruent of both principal and interest in
These Bonds may be subscribed for in sums
from $6O, up to any magnitude, on the same
terms, and are thus made equally available to
the Fruallest lender andthe largest capitalist.
They can he concerted into moticy at any mo
ment, and the holder will have the benefit of
the interest
It nutv be useful to state in this connection
that the total Funded Debt of the United
Stat , s on which interest is . pa;yable In gold,
mi . the 3d day of March. 1864, was '5763,965,-
000 1 4 'he interest on this debt: for the cow-
ing fiscal year will be $45,937,1'26, while the
customs revenue in gnld for the current fiscal,
Sear, ending June 30th, 1864, has been so far
at the rate of over $100,000,000 per annum.
It gill be seen that even 1 the present gold
revenues of tha Government are largely in ex
cess of the wants of the Treasury for the pay
ment of gold interest, while the recent in:
crease of the, tariff will doubtless raise the an•
nual receipts from customs on the same
amount of importations, to $150,000,000 per.
annum
Instructions to the National Banks acting
as loan agents were not, issued from the 11.,5.
Treasury until. March 26, but in the brit thlee
weeks of. April the subscriptions averaged
more than TEN MILLIONS A WEEK.
Subscriptions will be received by the
