"The Secretary of the Treasury has not yet given notice of any intention to withdraw thisi popular Loan from sale at Par, and until to days Notice is given, the underslgded;as "Gent eral Subscriptioa Agent," will continue tol supply the public. • • The n - hole amount of the Loan antliorii:efil is Five Hundred Millions of Dollars. Nearly-1 Four Hundred Millions have been already sub-1 scribed for and paid into the Treasury, mostly within the last seven months. The large de mand abroad and the rapidly increasing boatel demand for use as the basis fee circulation by National Banking AssociatiOns 'now orgaili•- 1 zing in all parts of the country, will In a t4e'ryd short period absorb the balatice. Sales have lately ranged from ten to fifteen 'millions 1 weekly, frequently exceeding 'three millions l daily, and as it is well known that the Secre Lary has ample and unfailing resources Li the Duties on Imports and internal Revenne.s, and imthe issue of the interest bearing Legal Tender notes, it is' almost a certainty that he will not find it necessary, for a long time to come, to aeek . it market for,any other long or permanent loanS, The Inteieit and Principal of which are payable in GOLD. Prudence and self interest ninst forbe tile minds of those contemplating the formation of National Banking Associations, as well as the minds of all who have idle Money on their bands, to the prompt conclusion tIMt they should lose no time in subsciibitig for this most popular loan It will soon be beyond their reach, and advance to a handsume pre. mium, as was tne result with the " seven thirty" loan, when it was all sold and could no loader be subscribed for at par. It is. a Sik per cent Loan, the Interest and Principal payable in coin, thus yielding over Nine per 'cent per annum at the presedt rate of premium on coin. The Government requires-all duties on Im ports to be paid in coin ;. those duties have for a long time past amounted to ore' a Quar ter of a Millionof Dollars Daily, a sum neatly three times greeter than that required in the payment of the interest on all the 5-20's and other permanent loans. So that it is hoped that the surplus coin in the Treasury, at no dittant day, will enable the United States to fesume specie payments upoh all . iialiilitie .. The Loan is called 5-20 froth the fact that whilst the Bonds may run for 20 years yet the Government has a rignt to pay them off in Gold at par, at any time after 5 years. The interest is paid half yearly, viz : On the first days of Noveniber and May. ~ Subscribers_ can have Coupon Bonds, which are payable to bearer, and are $5O $lOO $5OO and $1000; or Registered Bonds of same denominaiions, and in addition,ss,- 000 and $lO,OOO. For Banking purposes and for investments of Trost-monies the Register ed Bonds are preferable.. These 5-20's cannot be taxed by'States, cities, towns or counties, .and the Govern mint tax ou'thetnl~is only ons-and-a—half per cent, on the amolikt of income, whet the holder exceeds Six Hundred dollars per an num , all other investment, buch as income from Mortgages, Railroad Stock , and Bonds, etc., must pay from three five per eent tax on the tucome. Executrix Banks and Bankers ihroighont the Country Will continue to dispose • of the Bonds ; and all orders by Mail or otherwise, promptly at tended to. The inconvenience of a re* days' delay in the delivery of the Bonds is nuavoidable, the deniatid being 'so great; but as interest com mences from the- dayof subscription, no loss is occagone4, and every effort is being Made to diminish the delay. There is no mistake -in flit: . -It is - vouched for by numbers of my comrades, some of whose names are appended, and whe were fully , e-onizarit of all . the circumstance' of my case. I am, and have been fer tbilass four years, a Member of Stierman'stelebrited battery, and tinder the immediate . Com mand of Capt. R. B. Aires. Thiongh tha exposure attendant upon my ardacitie duties, I was attacked in November last with indent ation of the lungs, and was for setenty-ewe days in the hospital. This .was followed by great debility, heightened by an attack of dysentery. I was then removed from 'the White House, and sent. to this city on board the Steamer ' , State of Maine," .fram which I landed. on the 28th of June. Since that them I have been about as low as any one could be and still retain a spark of Vitality. For la F week or more I was scarcely 'able to swallow anything, and if I• did force a morsel down, it was immediately thrown up again. • Ileoeld not even keep a glass of water on '.try stomach. Life could not last under lush circumstances ; and, accordingly the Ord ' clans who had been, whrkingfaithfullyi the' unsuccessfully, to resent me from the grasp of the dread Archer, frankly told Me they could do no more for me, and advised tie to see a clergyman, and to Make such disposi. tion of mz limited funds as best stilted - me.
