The Exponent of Refined Society.
Onrcorrespondence with the leaders of fashion
in New York and the other capitals, is espe
cially valuable in this respect, keeping us un
. mistakably informed of the changes and pro
gress of what is commonly understood by the
"gay woild." As we have taken some pains
to arrange the resources of this new feature,
we speak confideutiy of its promise cl enter
tainment to oar large circle of readers. In
this department, foreign journals are endlesslY
' inventive ; and; with our industrious ransack
ing of these, we are sum to select, for the pe•
collar taste to which we minister, a most re
lishing banquet.

For upwards of three years . past, -I have
been engaged in a business, whim] has yielded
me at the rate of Three Thousand Dollars per
annum, but being desirous of going to Europe
in the course of a few mouths for ,the purpose
of there introducing the business, lam willing
to teach it to nay one who will send me One
Dollar. The business is no humbug, but of a
highly useful and general character, adapted
both to cities and villages, and one that any
person of ordinary capacity, young or old,
male or female, can acquire with a few hours'
practice, and by which they can secure a very
handsome income. Several young ladies who
have received instructions from me, both in
New York State and Pennsylvania, are earn
ing upwards of Fifteen Dollars pei week by it,l
and there is no reason why any one else can-
bot do the same. Invalids, even, can do well
by it, as it i? no peddling atrair. but a businest
that is perfectly respectable. Gentlemen and
ladies of leisure nho would line to le.trn the
business for their own amusement or Pleasure,
will find the practice of it a pleasant pastime.
