by Capt. J. 11. Craves; afterwards . known as
Company tf 48ih Ileg't I'. Y. - .His reputation
was that of a good and faithful soldier. When
Gen. Banks retreated from Virginia he was
taken prisoner, sent, to Lynchburg, there con
fined until he died, ..vhieh was in September
1862, a victim to privations and ill usage at
the Nana of the Rebels.
