Mi'The Steamer -Lady Elgin was run
Into off Waukegan, on Lake Michigan, -
st, 21 o'clock last Saturday morning, by
the Schooner Augusta, and sunk in 20
minutes in 300 feet of water.
The steamer had some 300 or 400 per
sons on board, of whom only 98 were
saved. Some military and fire- compan
tes.from litilwaukie, who hadleen on a
visa to Chicago and were•retnreing• were
'on board. The Clerk, Steward and a
pertbr of the boat were saved, 1119. 1 Mks
and papers of the stnimer were lost:
