The Quasiling Scheme.
The effort which is now being made to
quash out the name and principles of the
Republican party, and substitute a mere
oppositionlor the sake of a present suc

'meets iiith the MOst decided disapproba

tion . of the Republican press and masses
generally .in this and the adjoining State
of New York. The following extract

from an editorial in the Bradfortl (Pa.)
Republican, is incliCative . of the general
feeling upon this subjeot, The Report-:
er was a Democratic paper until the cam

to the Republican, tiCket. The sentiment
of the following is well worthy of a paper
published in the Grow District :
- "There are but two greatl - partios in
the country--..as there is - but-one
real issuer; One party iS deioted •to, the
propagation and strengthening of the in
stitution Of Slavery-- = the other asserts the
stiperiority of:Free White Latv. The
Republican party meets the issue fairly
and squarely - for .Northern
while the Democratic party-is marshalled
under the sable banner of Slavery. Now,
why should Nerthern men hesitate to take
sides with one or the other? There are
certainly no other issuei,. Which . require
the existence of a third party. The Re
publican party demands the protection of
the ballot-box against improper influences,
and the fostering' and . protection of the
interests of Pennsylvania. Its platform
is bread enough for every Pennsylvanian
to stand upon. But there arc men in the
State who demand dr ;the nanie shall be
dropped, and its 'principles hid out of
sight, before they can' co-operate with its
members. We have already been too ac:
commodating. We have already yielded
too much to this timidity and time-serv
ing policy. We have acceded to the de-
Manila of those tvho wished to cote grad
ually into the •Republican organization,
until walleye retarded the progress Of the

forma, however, in regard to acts and the
declaration of the plaintiff' where the. al-.

they depend altogether upon the 'ordiria 7

tending to prove two, points first, the 1
plaintiff had !promised ,to marry the ac, l

marry her, Which follows from the nature'
of the-let:or ; that is AO say, it appears!
from the paper that if there bid been 4ny, I
courtship, between the parties it was ati an
end when the leiter wits writtea. As to
the second point : it was' theoffer-of marl,
riage ;. and to ; fulfil the -promise of tho

The second ; point not. being Wien, of
course the third must fall to the ground.
The letter is excluded."
