pound at retail, and has averaged that
-for the last five years. But the people
.of California are beginning to produce
-their own butter, and during the last year
it is doubtful whether 50,000 firkins were
-shipped from this port. , This season, it
is estimated, thin the San Francisco peo
ple will have enough of home manufac
tured titter (if we map use .that term)
-to last through the summer, - anti conse
quently the dealers in this city do not pur
pose to settd but very little around the
Gaye. The prospect is, that in a few
years, this immense Annie will he -confined
to home consumption. Although prices
afire never higher than they have been
during the past spring, consumers .may

Side-Walks, be_so amended as to read, "from
Water street to West," instead of "from East
to West streets ;" and that the 1, usual- Notice
be given in the Potter Journat,l, and printed
notices of this amendment be given to all per
sons owning lots between Water and West

Borough to such an extent that it as become
a nuisance, and praying that s. ' . nuisance be
abated, therefore ,
Ssc. 1.-4 t is hereby Or. fined that from
and after this date no B chering, creating
thereby a nuisance, be arried on between
East and West and Fir. and Seventh streets
in this Borough.
Sec. ll.—And if ny persbn or persons shall
create said mns• .ce within the limits pre
scribed by thi- Ordinance, he, she, or they
shall forfeit: c sum of Five Dollars for the
first offed , and Twenty Dollars for the sec
ond an each subsequent offence—said for
feiture to be applied to Borough purposes, and
co ected as debts of like amount are now
