THE WONDERFUL CURES
Performed by Dr. SWAI E'B Compound
Syrup of Wild Cherry; in Pulmonary Con
sumption, have excited the astonishment of
all who have witnessed its marvellous ef
fects; there is no account of a medicine,
from the earliest ages furnishg in aparallel;
the almost miraculous cures effected by
this extraordinary medicine, is unpreco•
dented. . A few
,of. the subjoinned letters
and certificates are from respectable citi
zqns, and some of the many recommenda
tions I have had in favour of the virtue o
the above medicine.

IMPnRTANT TESTIMONY.- Consumption
and Bleeding of the Lungs cured.—Mr.
William Sheppard, residing in Heaver
county, Pa. near the state line, relates as
follows:—"In the month of May last my
wife was taken with Bleeding from the
Lungs., coughing, night sweats, hectic
fever, &e. She had taken a violent cold;
having previously given symptoms of the
approach of Consumption, I felt much a
larmed and made immediate application to
a physician. Under his treatment she be
came worse, instead of better, until the first
of June, when I heard from an intelligent
man of Dr. Sioayne's Syrup of Wild Cher
ry, and from his earnestness in recommend
ing it I was induced to try ono bottle.—
The effect exceeded my utmost expects
tions —she felt immediate relief. I then
mounted my horse and rode to the office,
No. 41 St. Clair street, Pittsburg, where
iii is kept for sale, and procured six bottles
More, which I am happy to say has effect
ed a perfect cure. Please publish this cer

It will be issued with a far neater cover
—on good paper and type, and 'will be

mounting to nearly four lit:mired pages per
volume. Each number will be aacompa•
nied by a VERY FINE WOOD CUT, illustrating
the natural history and customs of the
month for which each number is intended.
Each design will be accompanied by both
prose and poetic sketches, not only of the
general ftlatures and hollidaycnstoms, • but
likewise of the AGRICULTURAL peculiarities
of every month. This will be a new feu.
tare, and, is hoped, will render the
"MONTIILY VISITER " a peculiarly welcome
zuest on every rArtNlEß'S.table. The first
number will, likewise,-be embellished with
an engravinr , reprosenting Shakespeare's
"Tamin• time Shrew," 'Unstinted by a sto

the most popular authors England has ever
boasted. This plate, and the illustrations
of the months, have never appeared in any
other magazine.
The quality of the reading matter of the
Baltimore Monthly Visiter, may be in

In the line of critical notices of new

upon the plan of the "Phainix and Budget"
—and in the way of stories, an important
maim will be adopted, which will abolish
the plan of giving long novels continued,
provokingly, from number to number.
In order to place the work in the hands
of such as may not feel willing to pay the
more expensive prices of monthly maga•
zines, the proprietor has determined to pub
lisp the work at the extremely lino price
charged for its plainer and unillustrated
predecessor. The price will therefore be
SI 50, for a single copy—fine copies for
$5 00. This is giving about four pages
for ono cant.
It is desirable to receiva orders at once,
that we may know how to regulate our
issues.
The trade will be served at very liberal
rates—extremely anxious, P. 9 we are, to
extend the usefulness of the work, as widely
as possible.

To the Citizens of eidams
Cotent J.
FELLOW CITIZENAZ-I perceive I stand
charged in the "Star," a paper of you'
county, with three off•nces. First—with
molting an attempt to Injure the reputation
of a medicine, "fictitiously" called Dr.
tVistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry. This is
positively false. Dr. AVistar's Balsam of
Wild Cherry never had a reputation to in.
jure. I did say it was fictitious, and I say
so still, and I challenee enquiry. Second
—4 am charged with bolstering up a "Syr.
up" of Wild Cherry. If it is meant Dr.
Swayne's Compound Syrup of Wild Cher.
ry, that medicine has no occasion of bol
storing up. It has thousands and tens of
thousands to prop it up; its virtue alone
would be sufficient ifevery other prop, was
cut from under it. My highest aim is to
do good, that others may reap the benefit
with myself.: Third—l am accused with
trickery. This is equally
_fluke with the
rest—which those who know me best can
testify. What I would call trickery is'
coming out under fills° colours; calling
things by names which belong not to them,
with a view to give n reputation which
they do not deserve. For an individual to
make high pretensions to cure the most
formidable diseases, without any kenivledge
of the science of medicine Dither in theory
or practice, is presumptuous in the highest
degree. It was years after my medicine
was introduced into the .sick chamber, and
its virtues had become widely known long
before others began to catch at the name
of" Wild Cherry" thinking to *borrow a
prentation from that already established.
DR: SWAYNE.
P. S. The above medicine is eminent
ly calculated to cure coughs, colds and all
other breast complaints. For further par
titulars enquire of S. S. Forney, my sole
agent fbr Gettyshare, who keeps it pure and
unadulterated, likewise at my office No. 54
North sixth street, Philadelphia.
