FARMERS.—Some of the Ohio papers
boaat that the People of that State returned
88 farmers to the late Legislature, out of
120 members, of which both branches is
-t composed. We of Indiana can beat that.
Out of 77 members of the late House, 39
were farmers, and 38 belonged to other pro
.. essions--among them 21 lawyers! Thirty.
: nine farmers is a pretty good proportion—
and we know from observation that they
were, as a body, among the most intelligent,
industrious, and useful members of both
lionees.—Wdbash Courier.

The attention of the several districts of
the commonwealth is respectfully directed
to the fifth section of the supplement *.o the
school law, (passed the 15th of April,
1835.) Agreeably with the provisions of
that section, the portions of the state appro
priation intended for the several districts
not accepting the school law, are to remain
and accumulate in the treasury of the pro
per county, for and during two years from
the date of the supplement, for the use of
such non accepting districts. But if such
districts shall not, within two years, accept
the law, then such accumulated sum shall
be distributed 'at the end of that time, a ,
mongst the accepting districts in the respec
tive divisions.
The two years above mentioned will ex
pire on tho 15th day of April, 1837. Be
fore that day only one joint meeting of dele
gates and county commissioners (viz on the
2d day of May next) can or will take place:
at which joint meeting in the several divi
sions, or at some of the regular adjourn
ments thereof, the number of districts which
shall he entitled to a dividend of the said two
years accumulation, will be unalterably fix
ed.
. It will therefore be perceived that the ap
proaching election of directors (on the 18th
day of March next) is a subject of deep im
port to the districts which have hitherto re.
jected the system. The claim of the dis
tricts to the two years dividends of 'appro.
priation, which will at the end of period,
remain for their use in the proper county
treasuries, will be established or abandoned
by the vote which their representatives may
give in the next May joint meeting. Con
sequently the meeting to elect directors in
March will be the only opportunity present.
ed to the citizens of each hitherto refusing
district, to determine by choosing their rep
resentatives in the board of directors, wheth
er they will accept the two years accumula
tion of school money. •
In addition to the two ordinary annual
state appropriations of $75,000 there will,
also be, on the 15th of April 1837, subject
to distribution under the above mentioned
provisions of the sth section of the supple
ment, an instalment $lOO,OOO payable by
the bank of the United States to the common
school fund in the present year.

RECOMMENDATORY NOTICES.
Dr. John S. Miller, Fredericktown, Md.
I do hereby certify that I had this last
spring and summer a constant pain in my
stomach, and a great weakness in my kid•
neys,' and pain across my eyes, for which I
used a good many remedies without -giving
relief. I was at last recommended to try a
bottle of Garlegant's Balsam of Health, pre
pared, by John S. Miller. I accorimigiy
made use of one bottle, which I procured of
his agent in Hagerstown, which restored me
to mygood health again, and am nosy as well
as ever I was, and you are at liberty to
make it known for the benefit of those afflic
ted in the same way.
Yours, &c.

About two years ago I was seVerely af
flicted with the dyspepsia, which I had for
the last fifteen years, previous to the above
named time, which was very much increased
by my having a blood vessel ruptured upon
my lung s, occasioned by lifting—which in.
creasedmy complaint, dyspepsia and gener
al weakness and debility to such a degree,
that for two years previous to my using the
Garlegant Balsam I never eat a meal but
my stomach became so painful that I had
immediately to throw it up. Seeing Gude
gant's Balsam of Health advertised, I was
induced to try a bottle; after taking the very
first dose it appeared to strengthen my sto
mach; and every dose of the first bottle help
e'd me so much, that in the course of a few
days my stonfach began to retain and digest
every thing I eat. I continued to use the
Balsam until I used seven bottles, which
cured me entirely, and restored me to per
fect health, which I have enjoyed ever since,
and not before for fifteen years. I cheerful.
ly recommend it to all persons who are af
flicted with dyspepsia or debility of stom
ach. Given under my hand this 11th day
of January, 1834.

Dear Sir:—l have used the Balsam of
Health which I procured from you, with
great benefit, if not with entire relief.—
When 1 procured it I was sorely afflicted
with dyspepsia, attended by all the distres
sing symptoms, headaches, giddiness, heart
burn, and the thousand nervous atThetions
which accompany it, in its worst stage S—
. times such was the debility occasioned,
that I was bed ridden. I think I can say,
that the first relief, ►f not the entire cure,
was produced. by the use of the Balsam.

the Baptist Church at Pittsgruve, Salem Co.,

Having been made acquainted with the in
gredients computing Dr Jayne'm Carminative
13.ilsam, I believe it to be a a very happy com
bination, and a useful medicine in many com
plaints which almost constantly occur in our
country, such as Dowel Affections of children,
Cholic, Crampe,Lonseness, Dyspeptic Disorders
of the Stomach, Coughs, and Affections of the
Breast, together with all those diseases attend
ed with Sourness or the .Stomach; and believe
that the regular physician will often find it a
useful remedy in his bands, and one that is
proper for domestic rise, and cat) be put into the
hands of persons at large with safety.

Dr. JAYNE— Dear Sir--Yon ask me what
proofs I meet with of the acy of your medi
cine. I can safely say that I never prescribed
a medicine fur 800 el Complaints that has giv
en me so much satial.ction, and my patients
so speedy and perfect relief as this. Whenever
introduced into a family, it becomes a standing
remedy fur those ailments, and is called for a
gain and again; which I think a pithy good
proof of its efficacy and in•ehilness. In the
Summer Complaint of children, it he. ft equent
ly appeared to snatch the little victims, as it
were, from the grave, saved the life of my
child, and of such and such a child," I have re
peatedly heard ,aid. Io dysenteric affections
of adults, 1 have time and again seen it act
like a charm, and give permanent relief in a
few hours, I may say in a few minutes In fine s
it is a valuable medicine, and no family should be
without it. Respectfully,
