D R. HULL'S RECENTLY IMPRO

conclusion that this Truss, in its present
improved state, is the only instrument sur
gically adapted to the disease of Rupture,
and the only one that patients can rely upon
fbr the sale retention of the bowels and the
final Care of the disease.
In confirmation of which the following
names of distinguished medical gentlemen
of New'Yorlt city, with many others, have
expressed n decided preference for this in•

Jonh Stearns, M.D. Win. Anderson, M. D.
Also, the following extract of a late certi
ficate of Dr. Mott, of N. York:
"For the last twelve months, the curative
powers of Dr. [lull's Truss have been tested
under my own observation with the most
gratifying success in cases of great difficul
ty, in which the mutilated imitation Trusses
so common in our market, had only aggra
vated the disease. Dr. Hull is an experien
ced surgeon, who has displayed not a little
surgical skill and mechanical ingenuity in
bringing this unrivalled instrument to its
present state of perfection, rendering it,
know, the best I ever saw for securing, corn
fiirting and curing the ruptured patient, and
is in my opinion, the only instrument of the
kind that is entitled to patronage of the pro-
Cession, and the confidence of the public.

Copy of a Letter/1
CIIARLEsToWN, ( .Mass.) June 23,1827.
To the Proprietor of Dr. Jclob's Liniment.
Dana Stir—l deem it a duty 1 owe to suffering
humanity, to acquaint you, and thiough you the
public, (should you think Lost ) of the une*pocted
and surprising cure porturmeh on myself by the
use of the above most excellent Medicine 1 have
boon for more than thirty years, and sometimes
most severely, afflicted with the Rheumatism,
hare hedn litquently rendered perfectly helpless;
and in cuusegoence confined to my bed, when it
has required two persons to move me, being in
such extreme pain; 1 have several times been un
der the care 01 the most eminent physic stir, but
procured only temporary relief, I one day no
liced the adtertiseitiont of Dr. Jebb's Liniment,
with the testimonials accompanying it, atm was
induced to try a buttle, which 1 used without much
semnble benefit. I concluded, however, to perse
vere, and bought another bottle, and was greatly
relieved, and by the use of half the third bottle,
was wholly cured, and have never since had a re
turn of the pain, which I had riot been free from
a month at a time for thirty years, and it is now
more than three years since 1 was cured. 1 would
most earnestly , advise every person suffering un
der this painful complaint, not to despair lA . a cute
so long as they can obtain Dr. Jebb's Liniment.
You are at liberty to make any use of this you
may think advisable.
Most respectfully yours,
CALEB SY M M ES.
To the foregoing testimony, Many other un
questionable proofs might bo added, in tlivor of tho
superior Liniment of Dr. Jobb. Nothing but a
fair trial, which the proprietor confidently solicits,
can give an adequate idea of its unrivalled effica
cy, in mitigating, and thoroughly mastering, the
excruciating disease, to which it has been suc
cessfully applied in a multitude of cases. The
operation of the Liniment is often immediate; and
it has frequently cured rheumatic affections of
years standing, in four and twenty hours. It is
also recommended with confidence, us one of the
best applications known for stiffness of the joints,
numbness, sprains, and chilblains.

BRITISH ANTICEPTIC
. DENTIFRICE.
For cleansing, whitening, and preserving
THE BRITISH ANTICEPTIC DEN
TIFRICE, which the present proprietor
wishes most particularly to recommend to
the attention of the public, is perfectly ex
empt from all those acids which in general
form the basis of tooth powders in common
use, and which although they may whiten
the teeth for a short time, must inevitably
destroy the Enamel by their deleterious ac
tion on this beautiful covering of the teeth
The consequence is that the Enamel which,
is the shield provided by nature to protect
the spongy and nervous internal structure, is
rapidly corroded by these acid ingredients,
become more discoloured than ever, and ex
poses the inner portion of the tooth to caries
and n rapid and certian decay. By the use
of the British Anticeptic Dentifrice, in the
morning, as occasion may require, with a
brush moderately hard, and cold water, the
accumulation of Tartar will not only be pre:
vent d, but the teeth rendered beautifidly
and permanently white, and the gums resto
red to that freedom from soreness, that hard
ness and efflorescence which are the sure
tests of their healthy state, and the best
guarantee of that natural fragrance of the
breath which can never be expected in con
nection with foul teeth, and scorbutic un
healthy gums.

benefit from this valuable medicine, I con

and White Swelling; during that period I
placed myself under the care of upwards of
eighteen respectable physicians in Boston
Pittsburg, Albany, and this place, but their
prescriptions were in vain. My arm became
useless, the elbow joint being very much en
larged, and so covered with ulcers, that my
physician, fearing a mortification would take
place, advised me to submit to amputation.,
but this very fortunately I rejected. On my .
back there was an ulcer as large as the papa
of my hand, which became so painful that I.
despaired of ever being restored to health,
or even getting relief. Having seen a simi
lar case to my own, which was cured by
your Cathnlicon, as the last resort I applied
for it, and the happy result is, from its use
for about three months, I am perfectly cured.

RHEUMATISM
P. S. As it doubtless gives you pleasure
to hear of the many cures which your medi
cine is daily performing, I will mention two
other cases wherein complete cures resulted
from its use, and which induced me to try
it. The first is a ease of an intimate friend
of mine, an old gentleman about sixty years
of age, who had the Rheronotuan for a num
ber of years past, part of the time confined
to his bed; he took it merely through expe
riment, and was surprised to find himself
entirely freed from his painful disorder by
using only one bottle.
'FETTER
The other case was a severe Tetter, which
covered both the patient's hands; he was
elderly man, and had the affliction for a long
time; he was totally deprived of the use of
them, his attendants being obliged to cut his
food and help him to it. Two bottles effec
tually cured him. This case, as well as my
own, are extensively known throughout the
country, and will add much to the fame of'
your already popular medicine.
Your well Wisher',
