DOCTOR BRAGG'S VIRGIN PILLS.
The essential ingredient of this valuable rem
edy is not new, but is well known in the medi
cal schools of France and Germany, and has
been employed by she females of the principal
courts of Lurope, and bT• all of the most distin
guished physicians in this speciality for the last
ten years. My motive is not to offer any pot
ent discovery, but simply, to present to the
mothers and daughters of our own land a simple
but sure remedy for those diseases to which
they are naturally subjected, in
of those
a form as
sshould„lt o ri t b iO i n a s t , e whichl e n fi e r c e " ju7tly o looked t upon nied i e l ' i ' y i
women as n violation of their most sacred feel
ings, and to avoid which they often risk the
most fearful consequences.
I have therefore prepared this specific in the
neat and simple form of a pill, and pat it up in
\small flat boxes, which can be safely sent any
distance by mail in a common envelope. Each
box is accompanied with full directions and ex
planations, enabling every woman to understand
I her own case and the proper treatment and the
proper time.
The Virgin Pills possesses such powerful,
penetrating properties, that none 01 the diseases
within the range of their action can withstand
or evade them. They cleanse, purify and in
vigorate every portien of the female organism,
correcting its diseased action, and restoring its
healthy functions. They effect a certain cure
for falling of the womb, whites, painful, sup
, pressed and irregular menstruation, diseases of
pregnancy, all nervous complaints caused by
disordered uterine organs, weakness, &c., the
symptoms of which are fully explained in the di
rections.
For any of the diseases of the reproductive
organs, they may be taken at all times, except
ing during the earlier stages of pregnancy
when their effect would he such as to produce
miscarriages, which fact is more fully explain
ed in the directions. Their action in the system
will be felt immediately and the flush of rosy
beauty, the true index of health, quickly rising
in the cheek of paler, will at once convince
the patient of these effects.
Price $t per box, and will be sent, post-paid
by return mail to any part of the United States
on receipt of the money. The money may be
sent by mail, at the risk of the subscriber.

Dr. Hardman, Analytical Physician.

and Heart—Formerly Physician to the
CINCINNATI MARINE HOSPITAL, also
to INVALIDS RETREAT,
Author of "Lotto's to Invalids," IS COMING.
See following Card.
December Appointments.
Dr. Hardman, Physician for disease of the
Lungs, (formerly Physician to Cincinnati Ma
rine Hospital,) will be in attendance at Ids
mums as follows t
Huntingdon. Jackson's Hotel, Tuesday, Dec. 15,
Lewistown, National Hotel, 16.
Hollidaysburg, 14.
Dr. Hardman treats Consumption, Bronchi
tis, Asthma, Larryngittis and all diseases of the
throat and lungs, by medical Inhalation, lately
used in the Bromtun Hospital, London. The
great point in the treatment of all limnan mala
dies is to get at the diseese in the direct man
ner. All medicines are estimated by their ac
tion upon the t ri.ffin requiring relief. This is
•the important fact upon which Inlintation is ho
sed. If the stomach is diseased we take
medicine directly into the stomach. If the lungs
are diseased, breathe or inhale medicated va
pors directly into the lungs. Medicines are the
antidotes to disease and should he applied to
the very seat of disease. Inhulation is the ap
plication of this principle to the treatment of
the lungs, for it gives as direct access to those
intricate air colls and tubes which lie out of
reach of every other mecca of administering
medicines. The reason that Consumption, and
other diseases of the lunge, have heretofore ro
sined all treatment has peen hccoeae they had
never been approached tq a direct manner by
medicine. They were intended to net upon the
lungs and yet were applied to the stomach.—
Their action was intended to be local, and yet,
they were so administered that they should not
act constismtionally, expending immediate and
principal action upon the unollencling stomach,
whilst the foul ulcers within the lungs ware un
molested. Inhalation brings the medicine in
direct contact with the disease, without the
disadvantage of any violent action. Its appli
cation is simple, that it can be employed by the
youngest intent or feeblest invalid. It does not
derange the stomach, or interfere in the least de
gree with the strength, comfort, or liminess of
the patient.

For Southern Climates it is excellent, and
much superior to any other ; as the moistness of
the climate does not destroy it,—the properties
inserted in the pulp being a preventive. In all
southern States, Cuba, the West Indies and the
Central American State., no public recorda can
be kept over 20 years, written on the ordinary

good and perfect gilt, I am enabled to offer to
the afflicted a permanent and speedy cure in
Consumption. The first cause of tubercles is
from Impure blood, and the immediate effect pro
duced by their deposition in the lungs is to pre
vent the free admission of air into the air cells,
which causes a weakened vitality through the
entire system. Then surely it is more rational
to expect greater good from medicines entering
the cavities of the lungs than thuse administered
through the stomach ; the patient will always
find the lungs free anti the breathing easy, after
Inhaling remedies. Thus, Inhalation is a local

With more power and certainty than reinedics
administered by the stomach. To prove the pow
erful and direct influence of this mode of adtnin
istration, chloroform inhaled will entirely de
stroy sensibility in a few minutes, paralyzing
the entire nervous system, so that a limb may he
amputated without the slightest pain ; inhaling
the ordinary bursting gas will destroy life in a
few hours.
The inhalation of ammonia will rouse the sys
tem when fainting or apparently dead. Tho o
dor of many of the medicines is perm ptible in
the skin a few minutes after being inhaled, and
may be immediately detected in the blood. A
convincing proof of the constitutional effects of
inhalation, is the fact that sickness is always pro•

Lungs, entailing upon them a brief existence of
sutlering and consigning them to an early
grave.
Sell-abuse is another formidable enemy to
health, for nothing else in the dread catalogue of
human diseases causes so destructive a drain
upon the system, drawing its thousands of vic
tims through a few years of suffering down to an
untimely grave. It destroys the Nervous sys
tem, rapidly wastes away the energies of life,
causes mental derangement, prevents the proper
development of the system, disqualifies for mar
dope, society, business, and all earthly linppi
nese, and leaves the sufferer wrecked in body
and mind, predisposed to consumption and a
train of evils more to be dreaded than sleuth it
seif. With the fullest confidence I assure the
unfortunate victims of Self-Abase that u speedy
and permanent cure can be effected, and with
the abandontnent of ruinous practices my pa
tients can bo restored to robust, vigorous health.
The afflicted are cautioned against the use of .
Patent Medicines, for there are so many ingeni
ous snares in the columns of the public prints
to catch and rob the unwary sufferers that mil
lions have their constitutions ruined by the vile
compounds of quack doctors, or the equally poi
sonous ncstrums vended as '"Patent Medicines."
1 have carefully analyzed many of the so-called
Patent Medicines and find that nearly all of
them contain Corrosive Sublimate, which is one
of the strongest preparations of mercury and a
deadly poison, which instead of caring the dis•
ease disables the system for life.
