Marriage
Married persons, or young men contempla

He who places himself under the care of Dr.
Johnston may religiously confide in his honor as

immediately cured, and full vigor restored,
This disease is the penalty most frequently
paid by those who hove become the victim of
improper inditlgencies. Young persons are too
apt to commit excesses front not being aware of
the dreadful consequence that may ensne.—
Now, who that understands the subject will pre
tend to deny that the power of Procreation is
lost sooner by those falling into improper habit
than by the prudent. Besides being deprived
of the pleasure of healthy offspring, the most se
rious and destructive symptoms to mind and bo
dy arise. The system becomes deranged , the
physical and mental powers weakened, nervous
debility, dyspepsia, palpitation of the heart, in
digestion, a wasting of the frame, cough symp

Member of the Royal College of Surgeons,
London, graduate from ono of the most eminent
Colleges of the United States, and the greater
part of whose Brehm been spent in the first Hos
pitals of London, Paris Philadelphia, and else
where, has effected 90111 e of the most astonish
ing cures that were ever known, many troubled
with ringing in the head and ears when asleep,
; great nervousness, being alarmed at sudden
sounds, end hushfulness, with frequent blushing
attended sometimes with derangement of mind,
were cured immediately.
A Certain disease.
When the misguided and imprudent votary
of pleasure finds lie has imbibed the seeds adds
painful disease. it to too often happens that an
ill-timed sense of shame, or dread of discovery,
deters him from applying to those who from ed
ucation and respectability, can alone'befriend
him, delaying till the constitutional symptoms
of this horrid disease snake their appearunce,
snob es ulcerated sore throat, diseased nose,
nocturnal pains in the head and limbs. dimness
of right, deafness, nodes on the slit,' bones, and
arms, blotches on the head , thee and extremities,
progressing with frightful rapidity, till nt last

fall in, and the victim of this awful disease be
comes a horrid shires of commiseration, till
death puts, a period to his dreadful stifferiugs, by
sending him to "that home trom whence no

Johnston pledges himself to trosei ve the most
inviolable secrecy, nail from his extensive prac
tice in the first Hospitals of Europe and Ameri
ca, he can confidently recommend a safe and
speedy core to the unfortunate victim of this
disease.
It is a melancholy fact that thousands fall vic
tims to this horrid disease owing to the unskil
fulness of ignorant pretenders who by•the use of
that deadly poison Mercury, ruin the cons.i
tution„ and either send the unfortunate sullerer
to an untimely grave, or make the residua of his
life miserable.
Take Particular Notice.
Dr. J.. addresses all those who have injured
themselves by itnproper indolgencies,
These are some of the sad nod melancholy
effects produced by early habits of youth, viz
Weakness of the Back and Limbs, Pains in the
head, Dimness of Sight, Loss of Muscular pow
er, Palpitation of the Heart Dyspepsia, Nervous
Irritability, Derangements of the Digestive
Functions, leneral Debility Symptoms of Con
sumption, &a.
MENTALLY—The fearful effects on the mind
are much to be dreaded; Loss of memory, Con
fusion oft leas, Depression of Spirit, Evil For
battings, Aversion to Society, Self Distrust,
Love of Solitude, Timidity, Sc., are some oldie
evils produced.
Thousands of persons of all ages, can now
;edge what is the cause of their declining health.
Losing their vigor, becoming weak, pale and
emaciated, have singular appearance shout the
eyes, tough and synitoms of consumption.
Dr. Johnston's Invigorating Reme
dy for Organic Weakness.
Ily this great and important remedy, weakness
of the organs is speedily cured and full vigor re
stored. Thousands of the most debilitated and
nervous, who had lost all hope, have been im
mediately relieved. All Impediments to Mar
riage, Physical or Mental Disqualification, Ner
vous Irritability Tremblings and Weakness,
or exhaustion of the most fearful kind, speedily
cured by Doctor Johnston.
Young men,
who have injured themselves by a certain prsc
lice indulged in when alone—a habit ftequently
learned from evil companions, or at school—the
effects of which are nightly felt, even when a
sleep, and if not cured renders marriage impos
sible, and destroys both mind and body, should
apply immediately.
What n pity that a young man, the hope (Mils
country, and the darling of his parents should be
snatched from all prospects and enjoyments of
life by the consequence of deviating from the path
of nature and indulging in a certain secret habit
Such persons before contemplating
Marriage,
should reflect that a sound mind and l•olly are
the most necessary requisites to promote connu
bial happiness. Indeed without these, the jour
ney through life becomes a weary pilgrimage,
the prospect hourly darkens to the view; the
mind becomes shadowed with despair, and tilled
with the melancholy reflection that the happiness
of another becomes blighted with our own.

Bender, I peddled over a thousand bottles
of this in the vicinity of Boston. I knew the
effect of it in every case. So sure as water will
extinguish fire, so sure will this cure humor.—
I never sold a bottle of it lint that sold another;
after a trial it always speaks for itself. There
are two things about this herb that appear to
me surprising; first it grows in our pastures in
some places quite plentiful and yet its value
has never been known until I discovered it in
1840—second that it should cure all kinds of
humor.
In order to give some idea of the sudden rise
and great popularity of the discovery. I will
state that in April, 1853, I peddled it and sold
about six bottles per day—in April, 1054, I sold
over one thousand per (lay of it.
Some of the wholesale Druggists who have
been in business twenty and thirty years, say
that nothing in the annals of patent medicines
was ever like it. There is a universal praise
of it from all quarters.
In my own practice r always kept it strictly
for humor—but since its introduction as a gen
eral family medicine, greet and wonderful vir

ed.
Several eases of epileptic fits—a disease
which was always considered incurable, have
been cured by anew bottles. 0, what a mercy
if it will prove effectual in all cases of that
dreadful ninhuly—there ore but few who have
more of it than I have.
I know of several eases of Dropsy, all of
whom aged people cured by it. For the vari
ous diseases of the Liver, Sick Headache, Dys
pepsin. Asthma, Fever and Ague, Pain in the

in diseases of the Kidneyli, &e., the discovery
has clone more good than any medicine ever

And . though the nation may look on,
And feel some little bored, sir,
Depend upon it that these men,
Are politically floored, sir,
But whnte'er course that traitors take,
Republicans, "in chorus"
Stand to the rack nor mind the feed,
A brighter view's before us.
Let F— men unite their force
With the administration,
They're unreliable at best,
Unworthy of the Nation,
The little squad who feared the South,
Should all be tied t?gether.
And made to mourn in cotton rags
"All night" in this cold weather,—
To stiffen up their limber spines,
And when become well cured,
In shrouds and coffins well nailed up
And in their graves immurreil.
Let us ponder the lessons the past year has
taught,
And glean wisdom from Time's storied page;
Every day of our life with instruction is fraught;
Every day marks us foolish or sage.
As with men so with nations: experienceshows
That the upright alone can endure;
And that only the safeguard which Liberty
throws
'Round her vot'ries can make us secure.
Would we live like true men? We must a b le•
gate self
And respond to Humanity's call,
Have we gold? We must freely disburse of our
pelf,
To relieve from stern Poverty's thrall.
Have we hands 1 We must labor with earnest
good will
To revtore the dim image of God.
Ifave see hearts? We must feel for the v i ctims
of ill
As they sadly pass under the Rod.
There's work to he done; there's a battle to fight
There is 110 time for folding of hands :
There is need of strong arms to deal blows for
the !liglit,
And the cause of the Slave in our land.
Stand aside I every idler that blocks up the way
And impedes the advance of our vale—
Stand aside I or up cudgel I and join the affray
And contend for the birthrights of man I
There are wrongs without number demanding
redress,
And appealing for• instant relief ;
There is anguish, dejection and bitter distress,
And the thousand more phases•of grief.
There are poor to be fed : there are Slaves to
be freed,
There are tears to be wiped from wet eyes ;
There are widows and orphans to rescue front
need,
Anil sail bosoms to rob of their sighs.
Freemen! hope for the best; there's a God over•
head 1
And a Mighty One ruling our late I
With a heart full of nerve, and a steady, firm
tread
Let us march to the Future's wide gate.
There's success for brave men, and their tri.
umph is sure,
But for cowards and those who despond,
Thom is failure, misfortune, distress without
And a joyless existence beyond.
May this year mark an era of Ix hie resolve
And determinate purpose to no
May our minds in reviewing the old year evolve
Golden maxims to govern the new,
But Patrons ! I will end my song—
Farewell, I wish you joy ;
If you'd enjoy a happy year
