Oar econd annual Fair was held at Hun
ivdun,*on the itb , 9th, and loth days of Oe•
4vbrt inst.
Be expediency of having a Fair the pre•
sent ear, wan doubted by ninny ardent friends
att.. gaud cause, on account of the unfavorable
character of the early part of the season. lint
the runic so far exceeded our most sanguine
expectations, that it in now deemed expedient
to invite in future an annual exhibition of the
...din or the industry and ingenuity of the in•
habitants of the county.
In litany less favored parts of tho world, thu
utmost ingenuity of philanthropy ii severely
taxed, to devise material upon which to employ
the industry of suffering humanity. . And mill
more, to proeme such a scant remuneration as
will keep soul an body together until their des.
tiny on earth is accomplished.
Hitt we are a more highly favored people. A
benevolent Providence has spread out before
'us almost a butintiless, rich and divenified re•
with a . sell and climate capable, under the
heal of itlastry, of ruing all the products
originalli planted by the Laud of the Creator
upon the: earth, which are esseutial to healthy
and comfortable life.
But with us, the oldest and best cultivated
parts - of our country are susceptible of such
improvements under the hand of industry, as
to sustain more than quadruple its present ill.
A.
And in order to real:— such results, no have
only to render labor re..p,table, by colineAing
it with science, and intelligence, to which our
societies and fait, 'tire bu largely. contribuling.
It wai'ileemcd unnece,rary to give a detailed
repnet of the judges on premiums. But some
epodal .runes should be taken of domestic
anemia the amount of which was nu
great, that it was not possible fur the judges in
that depurtmont to du justice to their own feel.
ings. 'Ala we would respectfully icemmiend
that, la future that department be go (1441.1
