AYERS CHERRY PECTORAL.
For the rapid cure of Coughs, Colds, Hoarse
ness, Bronchitis, Whooping-Cough, Asthma and
Consumption, is universally known as the best
remedy ever yet discovered for every variety of
Pulmonary disease. So wide is the field of its
usefulness and so numerous the cases of its cures
that almost every section of the country abounds
in persons publicly known, who have been re
stored from alarming and even desperate cases
of the lungs by its use. When once tried its su
periority over every other medicine of its kind
is too apparent to escape observation, and where
its virtues are known, the public no longer hest
' tato what antidote to employ for the distressing
and dangerous affections of the pulmonary or
gans which are incident to our climate. By its
timely use many, nay, almost all Attacks of dis
ease upon the Lungs or Throat, are arrested
and thus are saved many . thousands every year
from a premature grave. No family should he
without it, and those who do neglect to provide
themselves with a remedy which wards off this
dangerous class of diseases will have cause to
deplore it when it is too late. Proofs of the sur
prising efficacy of the Cherry Pectoral need not
be given to the American people,—they have li
ving proofs in every neighborhood. rot those
who wish to read the statements of those whose
whole health bas'been restored and whose lives
have been saved by its use, will find them in my

BALTIMORE LOCK HOSPITAL.
DOCTOR JOHNSTON.
THE founder of this Celebrated Institution,
offers the most certain, speedy, and only
effectual remedy in the world for Glects, Stric
tures, Seminal Weakness, Pain In the Loins,
Constitutional Debility, Impotency, Weakness
of the Back end Limbs, Affections of the Kid—
neys, Palpitation of the Heart, Dyspepsia, Ner
vous Irritability, Disease of the head, Throat,
Nose or Skin ; and all those serious and melan
choly disorders arising from the destructive
habits of Youth, which destroys both body and
mind. These secret and solitary practices are
more fatal to their victims than the song of the
Syrens to the mariner Ulysses, blighting their
most brilliant hopes of anticipations, rendering
marriage, &c ;impossible.
Young Men,
especially, who have become the victims of Sol
itary Vice, that dreadful and destructive habit,
whiclb annually sweeps to an untimely grave
thousands of young ,men of the most exalted
talents, and brilliant intellect, who might oth
erwise have entranced listening senates with
the thunders of eloquence, or waked to cestacy
the living lyre, may call with all confidence.
Marriage.
Married persons, or young men contempla
ting marriage, being aware of physical weak
ness, organic debility, deformities, &c., should
immediately consult Dr. Johnston.
He who places himself under the care of Dr.
Johnston may religiously confide in his honor as
a gentleman, and confidently rely ppon his skill
as a physician.
Organic Weakness.
immediately cured, and full vigor restored.
This disease is the penalty most frequently
paid by those who have become the victim of
improper indulgencies. Toting persons aro too
apt to commit excesses from not being aware of
the dreadful consequence that may ensue.—
Now, who that understands the subject will pre
tend to deny that the power of Procreation is
lost sooner by those - falling. into improper habit
than by the prudent. Besides being deprived
of the pleasure of healthy offspring, the most se
rious and destructive symptoms to mind and bo
dy arise. The system becomes deranged , the
physical and mental powers weakened, nervous
debility, dyspepsia, palpitation of the heart, in
digestion, a wasting of the frame, cough symp
toms of Consumption.
65 - offico N0..7, South Frederick Street, se
ven doors from Baltimore street. East side, up
the steps. Bo particular in observing the name
and number, or you will mistake the place.
A Cure warranted, in Two Days.
NO MERCURY OR NAUSEOUS DRUGS.
Dr. Johnston,
Member of the Royal College of Surgeons,
London, graduate from one of the most eminent
Colleges of the United States, and the greater
part of whose life has been spent in the first Hos
pitals of London, Paris Philadelphia, and else
where, has effected some of the most astonish
ing cures that were aver known, many troubled
with ringing in the head and oars when asleep,
great nervousness, being alarmed at sudden
sounds, and bashfulness, with frequent blushing
attended sometimes with derangement of mind,
were cured immediately.
A Certain Disease.
When the misguided and imprudent votary
of pleasure finds he has imbibed the seeds of this
painful disease. it to too often happens that an
ill-timed sense of shame, or dread of discovery,
deters him from applying to those who from ed
ucation and respectability, can alone befriend
him, delaying till the constitutional symptoms
of this horrid disease melte their appearance,
such as ulcerated sore throat, diseased nose,
nocturnal pains in the head and limbs, dimness
of sight, deafness, nodes on the shin bones, and
arms, blotches on the head, face and extremities,
progressing with frightful rapidity, till at last
the palate of the mouth or the bones of the sass
fall in, and the victim of this awful disease be
comes a horrid object of commiseration, till
death puts a period to his dreadful sufferings, by
sending him to "that bourne front whence no
traveller returns," To such, therefore, 1)r.
Johnston pledges himself to "reserve the most
inviolable secrecy, and from his extensive prac
tice in the first Hospitals of Europe and Ameri
ca, ho can confidently recommend a safe and
speedy cure to the unfortunate victim of this hor
rid disease.
It is a melancholy fact that thousands fall vic
tims to this horrid disease owing to the unskil
fulness of ignorant pretenders who by the use of
that deadly poison Mercury, ruin tho cons.i
tntion,, and either send the unfortunate Falterer
to an untimely grave, or make the residua of his
life mit croble.
Take Particular Notice.
Dr. .L. addresses all those who have injured
themselves by improper indulgencies.
Those aro sonic of the sad and melancholy
effects produced by early habits of youth, vie:
Weakness of the Bock and Limbs, Pains in the
head, Dimness of Sight, Loss of Muscular pow
er, Palpitation of the Heart Dyspepsia, Nervous
IrritabUity, Derangements of the Digestive
Functions, General Debility Symptoms of Con
sumption, &c.
Bi.TALLY—The fearful effects on the mind
aro much to be dreaded; Loss of memory, Con
fusion of ideas, Depression of Spirit, Evil For
bodings, Aversion to Society, Self Distrust,
Love of Solitude, Timidity, &c., aro some &the
evils produced.
Thousands of persons of all ages, can now
judge what Is the C. 30 of their declining health.
Losing their vigor, becoming weak, pale and
emaciatad, have singular appearance about the
eyes, tough and sputoms &consumption.
Dr. Johnston's invigorating Rome
sly for Organic Weakness.
By this great and important remedy, weakness
of the organs is speedily cured and full vigor re
stored. Thousands of the most debilitated and
nervous, who had lost all hope, have been im
mediately relieved. All Impediments to Mar
riage, Physical or Mental Disqualification, Ner
vous Irritability,Tremblings and Weakness,
or exhaustion of the most fearful kind, speedily
cured by Doctor Johnston.
Young Men,
who have injured themselves by a certain prac
tice indulged in when alone—a habit ftequently
learned from evil companions, or at school—the
effects of which are nightly felt, even when a
sleep, and if not cured renders marriage impos
sible, awl destroys both mind and body, should
apply immediately.
What a pity that a young man, the hope of his
country, and the darling of his parents should he
snatched from all prospects and enjoyments of
life by the consequence ofdeviating from tho path
of nature and indulging in a certain secret habit
Such persons before contemplating
Marriage.
should reflect that a sound mind and Cody aro
the most necessary requisites to promote connu
bial happiness. Indeed without these, the jour
ney through life becomes a weary pilgrimage,
the prospect hourly darkens to tho view; the
mind becomes shadowed with despair, and filled
with the melancholy reflection that the happiness
of another becomosaightod with our own.

A HUMAN ATTX OAVZ.V.
Dowagiac, Mich., March 11, 1856.
J. A. Rhodes, Esq.: Dear Sir--As I took your
medicine to sell on consignment, "no cure no
pay,'' I take pleasure in stating its effects as re
ported to mo by three broth vs wholly° in this
place, and their testimony is a fair specimen of
all I have received:
IV. S. Conklin told me—"l had taken ninr
bottles of Christie's Ague Balsam, and continu
ally run down while using it until my lungs and
liver were Congered to that degree that blood
discharged from my month and bowels, so that
all thought it impossible for me to live through
another chill. The doctors too did all they could
for me, but thought I must die. Nothing did mo
good until I got Mingles' Fever and Ague Cure,
which at once relieved me of the distress and Mtn
an at my stomach and pain in my head and
bowels, end produced a permanent cure in a
shot t time." _ . _
11t.Conkfin says t "I ha( token medicine
of as good a doctor as we have in our county,
and taken any quantity of quinine and specifics
without any good results from 25th August to
17th December. But seeing how nicely it ope
rated on my brother, I got a bottle of Rhodes'
Fever and Ague Cure, which effected a perma
nent cure by using two thirds of a bottle."
S. M. Conklin was not bore, but both other
brothers say his case was the same as 11. M's.
I sold the medicine to both the some day, and
the cure seas as speedy from the same small quan
tity, and I might so specify. Yours with re
spect, A. HUNTINGTON.
The above speaks for itself. Good proof as it
is, it is of no better tenor than the vast number
of like certificates I have already published, and
the still greater amount that is pouring in to me.
Ono thing more. Last year I had occasion to
Caution the Public in these overdo
-7 .1 notice one firm who hare taken one of my gen
eral circulars, substituted the name of then nostrum
for my medicine, and then with brazen impudence
end their pamphlet with the exclamation, "Lot the

dares,' " Rm. . _
Now I take pleasure in saying that the Cau
tion referred to the same "Dr. Christie's Aguo

cate.
- There aro several other industrious people who
are applying to their poisonous trash all that I

MEDICAL ADVERTISEMENTS,
Greatest Medical Discovery of ,
the Age.
Dr. Kennedy, of Roxbury, ha 3 discovered in
ono of not common pasture weeds a remedy that
cures
MEV( EIED 1101filTI D
from the worst scrofula down to a common yin,
Ho has tried it in over 1100 cases, and never
failed except in two cases. choth thunder humor.)
lie has now in his possession over two hundred
certificates of its virtue, all within twenty miles
of Boston.
Two bottles are warranted to care a nursing
sore mouth.
One to three bottles will cure the worst kind
of Pimples on the fare.
Two or three bottles will cure the system of
Biles.
Two bottles are warranted to cure the worst
case of Erysipelas.
Ono to two bottles nro warranted to core all
humor in the Eyes.
Two bottles aro warranted to cure running of
the oars and blothea among the hair.
Four to six bottles are warranted to curo
corrupt and running ulcers.
Ono bottle will curo scaly corruption of the
skin.
Two to three bottles aro warranted to cure
the worst case of ringworm.
Two to throe bottles aro warranted to curo
the most desperate case of rheumatism.
Three to four bottles aro warranted to cure
the salt rheum.
Five to eight bottles will cure the worst case
of scrofula.
A benefit it always experienced front the first
bottle, and a perfect cure is warranted when
the ahoy% quantity is taken.
Reader, I peddled over a thousand bottles
of this in the vicinity of Boston. I know the
effect of it in every case. So sure as water will
extinguish fire, so sure will this cure humor.—
I never sold a bottle of it but that sold another;
after a trial it always speaks for itself. There
are two things about this herb that appear to
me surprising; first it grows in our pastures in
some places quite plentiful and yet its value
has never been known until I discovered it in
1045—second that it should cure all .kmds of
humor. _ . _
In order to give some idea of the sudden rise
and great popularity of the discovery. I will
state that in April, 1853, I peddled it and sold
about six bottles per day—in April, 1854, I sold
over ono thousand per day of it.
Some of the wholesale Druggists who have
been in business twenty and thirty years, say
that nothing in the annals of patent medicines
was ever like it. There is a universal praise
of it from all quarters.
In my own practice I always kept it strictly
for humor—but since its introduction as a gen
eral family medicine, great and wonderful vir
tues have been found in it that I never suspect
ed.
Several cases of epileptic fits—a disease
which was always considered incurable, have
been cured by afoot bottles. 0, what a mercy
if it will prove efibetual in all eases of that
dreadful malady—there aro but few who have
more of it thou I have.
I know of several cases of Dropsy, all of
whom aged people cured by it. For the vari
ous diseases of the Liver, Sick Dys
pepsia, Asthma, Fever and Ague, Pain in th e
Side, Diseases of the Spine, and particularly
in diseases of the Kidneys, &e., the discovery
has done more geed than any medicine ever
known.

No change of diet ever necessary—eat the
best you can get and enough of it.
