FEVER AND AGUE CURE,
For the prevention and Cure of Intermittent
and Remittent Fevers, Fever and Ague, Chills
and Fever. Dumb Ague, General Debility Night
Sweats, and all other forms of disease which have
o common origin in Malaria or Miasma.
This is a natural antidote which will entirely
protect any resident or traveller even in the
most sickly or swampy localities, from any Ague
or Bilious license whatever, or any injury from
constantly inhaling Malaria or Miasma.
It will instantly check the Ague in persons
alto have suffered for any length of time, from .
one day to twenty years, so that they need never
to have another chill, by continuing in use ac
cording to directions. The patient at once begins
to recover appetite and strength, and continues
until a permanent and tactical cure is cffeeted.
One or two bottles will answer lbr ordinary
cases; some may require more. Directions prin
ted German, French and Spanish, accompany
each bottle. Price ono dollar. Liberal dis

Three to four bottles are warranted to cure the

Five to eight bottles will cure tho worst case
of scrofula.
A benefit is always experienced from the first
bottle, and a perfect cure is warranted when the
above quantity in taken.
Reader, I peddled over a thousand bottles of
this in the vicinity of Boston. I knew the effect
of it in every case. So sore as water wilt extin
guish fire, so sore will this cure humor. I never
sold a bottle of it lint that sold another; after a
trial it always speaks for itself. There ore two
things about this herb that appear to me surpri
sing ; first that it grows in our pastures, in some
places quite plentiful, and yet its value has never
been known until I discovered it in 1840—second
that it should cure all kinds of humor.
In order to give some idea of the sudden rise
and great popularity of the discovery. I will
state that in April, 1853, I peddled it and sold
about six bottles per day—in April, 1854, I sold
,! over one thousand per day of it.
Some of the wholesale Druggists who have
been in business twenty mid thirty years, say
that nothing in the annals of patent medicines
was ever like it. 'lli, re is a universal praise of
it from all quarters.
In my own practice I nlways kept it strictly for
humors—but since its introduction as a general
tinnily medicine, great and wonderful virtues
have been found in it that I never suspected.
Several cases of epileptic fits—a disease which
was always considered incurable, have been cu
red by a few battles. 0. what n mercy if it will
prove effectual in all roses of that dreadful mal
ady—there are but few who have more of it than
I have.
I know of several cases of Dropsy, all of whom
aged people cured by it. For the various disea
ses of the Liver, Si^k Headache, Dyspepsia,
Asthma, Fever and Ague, Pain in the Side, Dis
eases of the Spine, and particniarly in diseases
of the Kidneys, Bte., the discovery bus done more
good than any medicine ever known.

Eiectro-Magnet Lightning Rods.
AFTER many years' close investigation mid
numerous experiments, the Patentee takes
pleasure in informing the public that he has aril
veil at the trite principles of protecting families,
dwellings and property from the destructive in
fluence of Lightning. Ihe calamities that
every City, Town,
Village and Country fills vic
tim to annually, through the gross negligence of
its inhnbitants, is beyond calculation, especially
when the remedy is so easy to obtain—this is
found in A rnittages Patent Magnetic
Lightning Mods, and in this clone. This
Rod has been examined by the most scientific
gentlemen in also world—Professors Al'Murtrie,
Johnson Waller and many others that have ex•
amined ;hem, recommend and speak of them in
the highest terms of approbation, and have pro
nounced them the only safe rods in use in this or
any other country, for the protection of Lives and
Property. One advantage is to divide and throw
back a part of the electric fluid harmless to the
clouds; in time of a stroke this enables the rod
to conduct that portion of fluid that belongs to

P 1111,1.. Aug. 13, 1847.
I hare this dny carefully inspected a conductor
or Lightning Rod, with vane mid index,. erected
by Mr. Thomas Armitage, on 13ellerne Muse,
Gloucester, and have no hesitation in saying that
it is not only the best that I hare ever seen, but
that it is the only one I have yet examined that
is constructed on strictly scientific princit.lcs. It
is with much pleasure that I recommend this
conductor to the attention of owners of building,
11. McMURTRIE.
I am well satisfied that the Magnetic Lightning
Rod, manufactured by Mr. Thomas Armitage, of
Philadelphia, is the hest that has over been made.
I have spent several years in the study of the laws
of electricity and magnetism, and have no hesita
tion in saying that these Rods me constructed
upon the only principle of safety. The elc, trie
shock is revolved and dispersed by the magnet at
the top or the roil, and it would he impossible,
according to the laws of attraction end repulsion,
for a building to be injured by a stroke of light-
Mug when protected by one of these rods. lii
have been acquainted with Mr. Armitage forcer
oral :years and before ho commenced the mane- '
facelift) tithese rods I examined the principle on
which they two constructed, and felt convinced
that their adoption would be attended with cam
plete success. The increasing demand for the..
rods, and the extensive sales in all parts of the
country, is ample commendation of their utility
and superiority.
TRACY F.. WALLER, M. I). ;
Rising Sun, Piffled. co., April 10; 1852.
The following extract is taken from an editori
al itt the Germantown Telegraph, edited by Major
Fnc.‘s
"The bogus rod placed upon our dwelling we
have lied taken down; and another creted by Mr.
ARMITAGE, to which we would call the attention
of our farmers and renders generally. It is put
up on true scientific principles, and is a rod'that
has been approved by the highest authority, and
will bear the most thorough examination. Those
who have been deceived, as we have been, should
lose no time in having a proper protection against
lightning, substituted. Thc cost is a mere bag
atelle when compared with the entire safety of
our houses and barns against this destructive ele
ment. Mr. ARMITAGE'S advertisement will ho
found in the columns of this paper; and we feel
as though we were performing an imperious duty
to the community, by thus inviting to it general
attention."

Mr num, Sin After is trial of many weeks, it
aßordy me great pleasure to inform you that I
am highly delighted with the lightning rod you
placed upon my house at linstleton. As fbr as
my chemical knowledge enable:: me to poi - 11,m
au opinion, I situ satisfied you have developed
the correct principles in the adaptation of rods to
protect property from destruction by lightning; as
soon as the advantages of your arrangements ore
understood, I am nonyincoti that few persons will
be found so reckless as to fail to avail themselves
of the protection afforded by your rods. Wishing
you all success in your enterprise,
