GREATEST MEDICAL DISCO
VERY OF THE AGE•
Dr. Kennedy, of llexbury, bas discovered in one
of our common pasture weeds a remedy
that cures
.r. - ormo_gium MrIJEMI,
tho worst scrofula &In to a common pimple.
Ito has tried it m over 1100 eases, and never
failed except in two cases, (Loth thunder humor.)
He has now in his pussebsion over two hundred
certificates of its vi.itue, all Itithin twenty miles
of Boston.
Two bottles are warranted to cure a nursing
sore mouth.
One to three bottles will cure tl e worst kind
of l'impleson the face.
oor three hottl6l will clear the system of
Biles.
Two bottles are warranted to cure the worst
case of Erysipelas.
Ono to wt bottles are warranted, to curd all
humor in the Eves.
Two bottles tire warranted to cure running of'
the curs and blotches among the hair.
Four to six bottles are warranted to cure cor
rupt and running ulcers.
One bottle will cure scaly eruption of the
skin.
Two to three bottles are warranted to cora the
worst case of ringworm.
Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the
most desperate ease of rheumatism.
Three to four bottles are warranted to cure the
salt Timm.
Five to eight bottles will cure the worst case
of scrofula.
A benefit is alwa3's experienced from the first
bottle, and n perfect cure is warranted when the
above quantity is taken.
Bender, I peddled over a thousand bottles of
this in the vicinity of Boston. 1 knew the effect
of it in every ease. So sure as water will extitr
guild; fire, so sure will this core humor. I never
sold a bottle of it hot that sold another; after n
trial it always speaks for itself. There are two
things about this herb that appear to me surpri
sing ; first that it grows in our pastures, in some
places quite plentiful, and yet its value has never
been known until I discovered it in ISM—second
that it should cure all kinds of humor.
In order to give some idea of the sudden riso
and great popularity of the discovery. I will
state that in April, 1853, I peddled it and sold
about six bottles per doe—in April, 1854, I sold
over one thousand per Joy of it.
Some of the wholesale Druggists who have
been in business twenty and thirty years, say
that nothing in the annals of patent medicines
was ever like it. There is a universal praise of
it from all quarters.
In my own practice I always kept it strictly for
humors—but since its introduction as a general
family medicine, great and wonderful virtues
have been found in It than I never suspected.
Several cases of epileptic lits—a disease which
was always considered incurable, have been cu
red by n few bottles. 0, what a mercy if it will
prove effectual its till cases of that dreadful mal
ady—there aro but few who have more of it than
4,,jutve.
1•O
' - know of several cases of Dropsy, all of whom
people cured by it. For the various disea
f the Liver, Si^k headache, Dyspepsia,
Asthma, Fever and Ague, Pain in the Side, Dis
eases of the Spine, and particularly in diseases
of the Kidneys, &c., the discovery has done more
good than any medicine ever known.
No change of diet ever necessary—ent the best
you can get and enough of it.
DIRECTIONS FOR UsE.—Adults vac table

pleasure in informing the public that he has arri
ved at the true principles of protecting families,
dwellings and property from the destructive in
fluence of Lightning. The calamities that
every City, Town, Village nod Country falls vic
tim to annually, through the gross negligence of
its inhabitnnts, is beyond calculation, especially
when the remedy is NO easy to obtain—this is
found in Arnatage's Patent Magnetic
Lightning Hods, and in this alone. 'rids
Rod has been examined by the most scientific
gentlemen in the world—Professors M'Alurtrie,
Johnson, 'Waller and many others that have ex
amined them, recommend and speak of them in
the highest terms 01' approbation, and have pro
nounced them the only safe rode in use in this or
any other country, for the protection of Lives and
Property. One advantage is to divide and throw
hack a part of the electric fluid harmless to the
clouds; in time of a stroke this enables the rod
to conduct that portion of fluid that belongs to
the earth without the slightest danger of leaving
the conductor. This rod has many other advan
tages over the old one. The only place of man
ufacturing is in

I have this day carefully inspected a Conductor
or Lightning Rod, with vane and index, erected
by Mr. Thomas Armitage, on Bellevue House,
Gloucester, and have no hesitation in saying that
it is not only the boot that I have over seen, lint
that it is the only one I have yet examined that
is constructed on strictly scientific princirles. It
is with much pleasure that I recommend this
conductor to the attention cii:owners of buildings.

I am well satisfied that the Magnetic Lightning
Rod, manufactured by Mr. Thomas Armitage, of
Philadelphia, is the best that has over been made•
Have spent several years in the study of the laws
of electricity and nmgnetism, and have no hesita
tion in saving that these Rods are constructed
upon the only principle of safety. Tito electric
shock is received and dispersed by the magnet at
the top of the rod, and it world he impossible,
according to the laws of at•—tetioh :mil repulsion,
for a building to be injure, by a stroke of light
ning when protected by one of these rods. I
have been acquainted with Mr. Armitage for sev
oral years, nod before he commenced the tnanu
facture of these rods I examined the principle on
which they are constructed, and felt convinced
that their adoption would be attended with corn
pieta success. The increasing demand for these
rods, and the extensive sales in all parts of the
country, is ample commendation of their utility
and superiority.

'rho following extract is taken fromnn editori-
al in the Germantown 'relegraph, edited by Major
Fnuas
"The bogus rod placed upon our dwelling we
have had taken down; And another crated by Mr.
AHMITAGE, to which we would call the attention
of our limners and readers generally. It is put
up on true scientific principles, and is a rod that
has been approved by the highest authority, nod
trill boar the most thorough examination. Those
who have been deceived, as we have been, should
lose no time in having a proper protection against
lightning, substituted. The cost is a mere bag
atelle when compared with the entire safety of
our houses and barns against this destructive ele
ment. Mr. AIMITAGE'S ndvertisement will ho
found in the columns of this paper; and we feel
as though we were performing an imperious duty
to the community, by thus inviting to it general
attention."

Mr Dunn Stn: After a trial of many weeks, it
affords me great pleasure to inform you that I
em highly delighted with the lightning rod you
placed upon my house at Bustleten. As far as
my chemical knowledge enables me to perform
on opinion, I am satisfied you have developed
the correct principles in the adaptation of rods to
protect property from destruction by lightning; as
soon as the advantages of your arrangements are
understood, I um convinced that few persons will
be found so reckless as to fail to avail themselves
of the protection afforded by your rods. Wishing
yon all success in your enterprise,
I am yours truly,
