lage of Graysport, (now called Spruce Creek)in
the comity el Huntingdon, numbered and descri
bed as follows, to wit: Lot No. 1. being 52 feet
in front and in depth extending to Michael Fet
terhors line, the south side of said lot being 36
porches long and the north side 37 perches, ac
cording to the plan of said town in that part laid
out by Saml. Caldwell, Esq., Lots numbered in
the moresaid plan 2,3, 4, and 5, adjoining lot
No, 1, and extending along the Pittsburg Road
leading by way of Philip Rollers, adjoining each
other, being ouch 52 feet in front and extending
back to Michael letterhotrs line. the atitresaii

south and Joseph Johnston on the north. and on
lot No, 1 is erected a Tavern Mouse. Lot N 0.7,
situate in that part of the town aforesaid laid out

the road lending to Pittsburg by way of Philip

king the aforesaid nine in number, not being Isid

which the Tavern House stands and extend.

anything to do. The author says in hie pre
face: "I undertook the task, simply because I
liked the man—because I had taken an inter•
est in his career—because I thought the story
of his life ought to bo told." It is further sta
ted hi the preface, (and the publishers believe,
with perfect truth,) that "nothing has been told
or suppressed for the sake of making out a
MSC." "The book," says the author, "is as
true as 1 could make it."
In the preparation of this work, author visi
ted every place at which Ida hero resided, and
complied the account of his early lite, which is
