The undersigned appointed a cotntnittee for the
purpose, by the officers of the State Fair, were
present this afternoon, when Messrs. EVANS &
WATSON tested one of their smell sized SAL
AMANDER FIRE-PROOF SAFES, at which
they consumed Titres Cords of Wood over it,
commencing ttt 1 o'clock, I'. M., and having ex
posed it to a WIIITE HEAT for Two Hours, suffi
cient to destroy the rust iron feet.
On opening the Safe, the papers with 2000 cir
culars deposited its our presence were taken out,
not only having been preserved, hut not having
the appearance of scorch upon them.

to the religion of Jesus Christ, on the present and

from evil companions, or at school—the effects

What a pity that it young man, the hope of his
country, and the darling of his parents should be
snatched from all prospects end enjoyments of
life by the consequence ot deviating from the path
of nature and indulging in a certain secret habit.
Snell persons before contemplating Marriage,
should reflect that a sound mind and hotly are
the roost neees,iary requisites to prowte connu
bial happiness, Indeed without these, the jour
ney thraugh life becomes a weary pilgrimage,
the prospect hourly darkens to the view; the
mind becomes shadowed with despair, end filled
with the melancholy reflection, that the happiness
of another becomes blighted with our own.

such Inns and Taverns that they close their res

the licenses of such persons as shall disrcgard this
injunction will be revoked forthwith agreeably to

ite Machinists and Tradesmen, and homes for
the Machinists and other employees of the Rail
