SECRET DISEASES.—GIeete Strictures,
Sentinel Weakness, Pain intim Loins, Affections
of the Kidneys, end all those peculiar affections
arising from a secret habit, imulienlarly the youth
of both sexes, which if not cored, produces con
stitutional debility, rendering marriage impossi
ble, and in the end destroys both Mind and Body.
Young Men especially, who have become the
victims of Solitary Vice, that dreadful sad des
tructive habit which annually sweeps to an un
timely grave thousands of young men of the most
exalted talents and brilliant intellect, who might
otherwise have entranced listening seaates with
the thunders of eloquence, or waked to ecstacy
the living lyre, may call with full confidence.
Married person., or those contemplat lug mar

perfect health.

the steps. sir Be particular in obtaining the
name and number, or you will mistake the place.

Johnston's office is in his
dwelling, up the steps. His very extensive prac-,
tice is a sufficient guarantee, that he is the only
propel physician to apply to.
1)r. Johston, member of the Royal College of
Surgeons. London, graduate from one of the
most eminent Colleges of the United States, and
the greater part of whose life has been spent in
the Hospitals of London, Paris Philadelphia, and
elsewhere, has effected some of the most aston
ishing cures that were ever known, many trou
bled with ringing in the ears and head when
asleep, great nervousness, being alarmed at sud
den sounds, and bashfulness, with frequent blush
ing attended sometimes with derangement of
mind, were cured immediately.
A CERTAIN DISRARE.—It is a melancholy fact
that thousandslall victims to this horrid disease
owing to the unskilfulness of ignorant pretenders
who hi the use of that deadly poison Mercury,
rain the Constitution, causing the most serious
symptoms of that dreadful disease to make their
appearance, such as affections of the head, nose,
throat, skin, etc., progressing with frightful ra
pidity till death puts a period to their dreadful
suffering, by sending them io that Bourne whence
no traveler returns.
Taste PAnrtcULAR NOTICE.—Young men who
have injured themselves by n certain practice in
dulged in when alone—a habit ftequently learned
from evil companions, or at school—the effects
of which are nightly felt, even when asleep, and
if not cured renders marriage impossible, and de
stroys both mind and body.
What a pity that a young matt, the hope of his
country, and the darling of his parents should be
snatcheh from all prospects and enjoyments of
life by the consequence of iliating from the path
of nature and indulging inn certain Secret habit.
Such persons before contemplating Marriage,
should reflect that n sound mind and body arc
the most neeesrary requisites to promote connu
bial happiness, Indeed without these, the jour
ney thratigh life becomes a weary pilgrimage,
the prospect hourly darkens to the view; the,
mind becomes shadowed with despair, end filled
with the melancholy reflection, that the happiness
of another becomes blighted with our own. •
CONSTITUTIONAL DEUILITY.—Dr. J. address-
es young men, and all who have injured them
selves by private and improper indulgence.
IMPI,SSAN.A.—Thesc are some of the sad and
melancholy effects produced by early habits of
youth,
vim Weakness of the Hack and Limbs,
sins in the head, Dimness of Sight, Loss of
Muscular power, Palpitation of the Heart Dys
pepsia, Nervous Irritability, Detangements of the
Digestive Functions, General Debility Symptoms
of Consumption. &c. _ _ _
•
MENTALLY—The fearful effects on the mind are
much to be dreaded; Loss of memory, Confusion
of ideas, Depression of Spirit, Evil Forbodings;
Aversion to Society, Self Distrust, Love of Soli
tude, &c., are some of the evils produced.
Thousands of persons of all agcs, can now judge
what is the cause of their declining health. Los
ing their vigor, becoming weak, pale and emacia
ted, hove singular appearance about the eyes,
cough and symtoms of consumption..
Married persons, or those contemplating mar
riage, being aware of physical weakness, should
immediately consult Dr. J. and he restored to per
fect health. Office, No. 7, South Frederick-St.,
Baltimore, Md.
ALL SURGICAL OPERATIONS PERFORMED.—

ply immediately either personally or by letter.
* Skin Diseases Speedily Cared,
To STRANGERR.—The many thousands cured
at this Institution within the last ten years, and
the numerous important Surgical Operations
performed by Dr. J.,witnessed by the Reporters of
the papers, and many other persons, notices of
which hare appeared again and again before the
public, is a sufficient guarantee that the afflicted
will find a skillful and honorable physidlan.
As there are so many ignorant and worthless
quacks advertising themselves as Physicians,ruin
ing the health of the afflicted Dr. Johnston would
soy to those unacquainted with his reputation that
his Credentials or Diplomas always hang in his
office.

DR. lIOOFLAND'S •
CELEBRATED GERMAN BITTERS,
Prepared by
DD. C. M. JACKSON,
AT THE GERMAN MEDICINE STORE,
120 Arch Street. Philadelphia.
Their power over the above diseases is not ex
celled—if equalled—by any other preparation in
the United States, as the cures attest, in many
cases after skilful physicians had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of inva
lids. Possessing great virtues in the rectification
of diseases of the Liver and lesser glands, exer
cising the most searching powers in weakness and
affectitins of the digestive organs, they are withal,
safe, certain and pleasant.
READ AND BE CONVINCED.
From the " Boston Bee."
The editor said, Dec. 22nd
Dr. llogjiands 'Celebrated German Bitters for
the cure of Liver Complaint, Jaundice, Dyspepsia,
Chronic or Nervous Debility, is deservedly ono of
the most popular medicines of the day. These
Bitters have been used by thousands, and a friend
at our elbow says he had himself received an efihe
tool and permanent cure of Ltver Complaint from
the use of this remedy. We are convinced that,,
in the use of these Bitters, the patient constantly
gains strength and vigor—a fact worthy of great
consideration. They are pleasant in test and
smell, and can be used by persons with the most
delicate stomachs with safety, under any circum
stances. We are speaking froth experience, and
to the afflicted we advise their use.
"SCOTT'S Wrests," ono of the best Literary
papers published, said Aug. 25 •
- "Du. 1100FLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS, mann•
factored by Dr. Jackson, are now recommended
by some of the most prominent members of the
fiscally as an article of much efficacy in eases of
female weakness. As such is the case, we would
advise all mothers to obtain a bottle, and tints save
themselves much sickness. Persons of debilitated
constitotidns will find these Bitters advantageous
to their health, as we know front experience the
Fain - wry effect they have upon week systems."
MaRE EVIDENCE
The lion. d:l;.lit;iellit7,liWor of the city
of Camden, N.J., says.:
“Ifoort.nsiti's' OfM3l.tx BITTERS.—Wo have
scan many flattering notices of this medicine, and
the source from which they came induced us to
teak° inquiry respecting its merits. From inqui
ry we wore persuaded to use it, and must say we
found it specific in its action upon discuses of the
liver and digestive organs, and the powerful in
fluence it exerts upon nervous prostration is real
lysurpristing. It calms and strenghtens the nerves
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep
refreshing o
this medicine was more generally used, we
are satisfied there would.be less sickness, as from
the stomach, liver, and nervous system the great
majority of real and imaginary diseases emanate.
Have them in healthy condition, and you can
bid defiance to epidemics generally. This extra
ordinary medicine we would advise our friends
who aro at all indisposed, to give a trial—it will
recommend itself. It should, in filet, be in every
family. No other medicine can produce such ev
idences of merit.
- Evidence upon evidence has been received (like
the foregoing) from all sections of the Union, the
also throeears, and the strongest testimony in its
favor, is, that there is more of it used in the prac
tice of the regular Physicians of Philadelphia, than
all other nostrums combined, a fact that can easily
be esublished, and folly proving that a scientific
preperation will meet with their quiet approval
when presented even in this form.
That this Medicine will cure Liver Complaint
and Dyspepsia, no one can doubt after using it as
directed. It acts specifically upon the stomach and
liver; it is preferable to calomel in all bilious dis
eases—the effect is immediate. They can ho ad
ministered to female or intim with safety and re
liable benefit at any time.
Look well to . the marks of the genuine
