SECRET DISEASES.—GIects Strictures,
Seminal Weakness, Pain in the Loins, Affections
of the Kidneys, and all those peculiar affections
arising from a secret habit, particularly the youth
of both sexes, which if not cured, produces con
stitutional debility, rendering marriage impossi
ble, and in the end destroys both Mind and Body.
Young Men especially, who have become the
victims of Solitary Vice, that dreadful and des
tructive habit which anonally sweeps to an un
timely grave thousands ofyonng men of the most
exalted talents and brilliant inteliect, who might
otherwise hare entranced listening senates with
the thunders of eloquence, or waked to eestacy
the living lyre, may call with full confidence.
Married persons, or those contemplating mar
riage, being aware of physical weakness, should
immediately consult Br. J., and be restored to
perfect health.
Dr. Johnston, office No. 7 South Fredrick St.,
seven doors from Baltimore Street, east side up
the steps. Bo particular in obtaining the
name and number, or you will mistake the place.
A cure warranted, or no charge made, in from
one to two days.
TAKE Norree.—Dr. Johnston's office is in his
dwelling, up the steps. His very extensive prac
tice is a sufficient guarantee, that ho is the only
propot physician to apply to.
Dr. Johsten, member of the Royal College of
Surgeons. London, graduate from ono of the
most eminent Colleges of the United States, and
the greater part of whose life has been spent in
the Hospitals of London, Paris Philadelphia, and
elsewhere, has effected some of the most aston
ishing cores that were ever known, many trou
bled with ringing in the ears and head when
Weep, great nervousness, being alarmed at sud
den sounds, and bashfulness, with frequent blush
ing attended sometimes with derangement of
mind, were cured immediately.
A CERTAIN DISEASE.—II is a melancholy fact
that thousands fall victims to this horrid disease
owing to the unskilfulness of ignorant pretenders
who by the use of that deadly poison Mercury,
ruin the Constitution, causing the most serious
symptoms of that dreadful disease to make their
appearance, such as affections of the heed, nose,
throat, skin, etc., progressing with frightful ra
pidity till death puts a period to their dreadful
suffering, by sending them io that Bourne whence
no traveler returns.
TAKE PARTICULAR NOTICE.—Young men who
have injured themselves by a certain practice in
dulged in when alone—a habit ftequently learned
from evil companions, or at school—the effects
of which are nightly felt, even when asleep, and
if not cured renders marriage impossible, and de
stroys both mind and body.
What a pity that a young man, the hope of his
Country, and the darling of his parents should be
snatched from all prospects and enjoyments of
life by the consequence of dovinting from the path
of nature and indulging in a certain secret habit.
Such persons before contemplating Marriage,
should reflect that a sound mind and body are
the most necessary requisites to promote connu
bial happiness, Indeed without these, the jour
ney through life becomes a weary pilgrimage,
the prospect hourly darkens to the view; the
mind becomes shadowed with despair, and filled
with the melancholy reflection, that the happiness
of another becomes blighted with our own.
CONSTITUTIONAL DEDILITT.—Dr. J. address
es young mon, and all who have injured them
selves by private and improper indulgence.
Dortissaxa.—These are some of the sail and
melancholy effects produced by early habits of
youth, viz: Weakness of the Back and Limbs,
Pains in the head, Dimness of Sight, Loss of
Muscular power,
Palpitation of the Heart Dys
pepsia, Nervous Irritability, Detangetnents of the
Digestive Functions, General Debility Symptoms
of Consumption, &c.
MExratir—The fearful effects on the mind are
mnch to be dreaded; Loss of memory, Confusion
of ideas, Depression of Spirit, Evil Forbodings;
Aversion to Society, Self Distrust, Love of Soli
tude, &c., aro some of the evils produced.
Thousands of persons of all eges, can now judge
what is the cause of their declining health. Los
ing their vigor, becoming weak, pale and emacia
ted, have singular appearance about the eyes,
cough and symtoms of consumption.
Married persons, or those contemplating mar
riage, being aware of physical weakness, should
immediately consult Dr. J. and be restored to per
fect health. Office, No. 7, South Frederick-St.,
Baltimore, Md.
ALL SURGICAL OPERATIONS PERFORMED.—
Bf• B. Let no false delicacy prevent you, but ap
ply immediately either personally or by letter.
Skin Diseases Speedily Cured,
To STRANGERS.—The many thousands cured
at this Institution within the last ten years, and
the numerous important Surgical Operatiohs
performed by Dr. J.,witnessed by the Reporters of
the papers, and many other persons, notices of
which have appeased again and again before the
public, is a sufficient guarantee that the afflicted
will find a skillful and honorable physidian.
As there are so many ignorant and worthless
quacks advertising themselves as Physicians,ruin
nig the health of the afflicted Dr. Johnston would
say to those unacquainted with his reputation that
his Credentials or Diplomas always hang in his
office.
Weakness of the organs immediately cured,
and fall vigor restored

MANY PROMINENT PHYSICIANS in the
city of New York and other places, finding them
selves without a remedy in inveterate cases of
the above complaints, and having due regard for
the welfare of their patients, have recommended
the use of this medicine; and, after witnessing its
salutary effects are now manifesting their appro

ment of all the diseases for which it is intended,
but in some instances accepting the agency of it
to facilitate its introduction into more general use
by the Faculty.
The influence of this composition upon the fe
male constitution is of the most friendly kind;
the most delicate and feeble female need have no
tear in its use for any length of time, for it con

DR. HOOFLAND'S
CELEBRATED GERAIAN BITTERS,
Prepared 1y
DR. C. M. JACKSON,
AT THE GERMAN MEDICINE STORE,
120 Arch Street. Philadelphia.
Their power over the above diseases is not ex
celled—if equalled—by any other preparation in
the United States, ns the cures attest, in many
cases after skilful physicians had failed.
,
These Bitters us worthy the attention of inva
lids. Possessing great virtues in the rectification
of diseases of the Liver and lesser glands, exer
cising the most searching powers in weakness and
affections of the digestive organs, they aro withal,
safe, certain and pleasant.
READ AND BE CONVINCED.
From the "Boston Bee."
The editor said, Dee. 22nd
Dr. Hoofland'a Celebrated Cerman Diners for
the cure of Liver Complaint, Jaundice, Dyspepsia,
Chronic or Nervous Debility, is deservedly one of
the most popular medicines of the day. These
Bitters have been used by thousands, and a friend
at our elbow says be bad himself received an effec
tual and permanent cure of Liver Complaint from
the use of this remedy. We are convinced that,
in the use of these Bitters, the patient constantly
gains strength and vigor—n fact worthy of great
consideration. They are pleasant in last and
smell, and can be used by persons with the most
delicate stomachs with safety, under any circum
stances. We are speaking from experience, and
to the aillictedwe advise their use.
"SCOTT'S WEEKLY," ono of the best Literary
papers published, said Aug. 25
"Dn. lIOOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS, manu
factured by Dr. Jackson, are now recommended
by some of the most prominent members of the
faculty as an article of much efficacy in cases of
female weakness. As such is the case, we would
advise all mothers to obtain a bottle, and thus save
themselves much sickness. Persons of debilitated
constitutions wilt find these Bitters advantageous
to their health, as wo know from experience the
salutary effectll.ey have !Ton weak systems."
MORE EVIDENCE,
The Hon. C. I):/11NLINa,ia7or of the city
of Camden, N. J., says :
"Hook,Axn's GERMAN BITTERS.-W 0 have
seen many flattering notices of this medicine, and
the source from which they came induced us to
make inquiry respecting its merits. Front inqui
ry we were persuaded to use it, and must sny we
found it specific in its action upon diseases of the
liver and digestive organs, and the powerful in
fluence it exerts upon nervous prostration is real
ly surpristing. It calms and strenghtens the nerves
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep
refreshing o
"If thi; medicine was more generally used, we
are satisfied there would be less sickness, as from
the stomach, liver, and nervous system the great
majority of real and imaginary diseases emanate.
Have them in a healthy condition, and you can
bid defiance to epidemics generally. This extra
ordinary medicine we would advise our friends
Who are at all indisposed, to give a trial—it will
recommend itself. It should, in fitct, he in every
family. No other medicine can produce such ev
idences of merit.
Evidence upon evidence has been received (like
the foregoing) front all sections of the Union, the
also throe years, and the strongest testimony in its
litvor, is, that there is more of it used in the prac
tice of the regular Physicians of Philadelphia, than
all other nostrums combined, a fact that can easily
be esablished, and fully proving that a scientific
preperation will meet with their quiet approval
when presented even in this form.
That this Medicine will cure Liver Complaint
and Dyspepsia, no one can doubt after using it as
directed. It acts specifically upon the stomach and
liver; it is preferable to calomel in all bilious dis
eases—the effect is immediate. They can be ad
ministered to female or infant wills safety and re
liable benefit at any time.
Look well to the marks of the genuine
