Atitiresi to the Farmers of Penn . sylrania. The numerous Brewers and Malsters Of the City and Garay of Philadel phia, embrace the opportunity of offering a few facts fur the consideration of the Far mers of Pennsylvania in regard to the de mand that exists for barley, thereby hoping that their attention may be directed to its cultivation. O. Within the county of Philadelphia, there are annually consumed for the purpose of Brewing about six hundred thousand bir , Ads of barby, snpplied from the state of New York, which has been sold in Albany, its general depot, the past three years at an average price of from seventy-five to nine ty cents per bushel, which, by comparison with the prices of other grain within the corresponding period, has yielded it much larger profit to the cultivator. The de mand is ocntinually increasing. About equal quantities of the two and four-round are used, and the so-called spring barley is much prefered to the winter grain for the purposes of malting. The State of New York now produces an annual average crop of about two mill 'ions Jive hundred thousand bushels which meets with ready purchasers during the months of Sept ember,October find Novem ber, but the farmers there, continuing to sow the seed each year of the previous crop on the same land, the quality of the grain is deterioratir.g: this is of great impor tance both to tbe raiser and the consumer, r the heaviest, brighest and cleanest Bar ey : lways commands the best price and readiest sales in the markets. The present time is a favorable one for the introduction of its culture in our own State, and its becoming. a staple article in nor market, whereby the sum of fiv: hundred thousvad dollars, or more, now annually transmitted by the Brewers of this city to New York, would be enjayed by the agriculturists of our State. The entire adoption of the climate and soil of Pennsylvania to the cultivation of Barley—the increasing demand in this city, as wel. a s the neighboring ones of N. York and BA w ltimore—the nets that are opening for its transportation fruit all parts ,of the State to markets where it finds cash . I 'purehasers, all unite as strong inducements to agriculturists to turn their attention to its production. far An mince to tact . is worth a pound of the ory: unit the swarm of conclusive facts that clus ter round that incomparable preparation, Iloot laniPs Berman Bitters, preluired by Dr. C.
