LiGESTiIt FLUID,
OR, GASTRIC JUICE.
Prepared from Rennet, or the fourth
stomach of the ox, lifter directions of Baron
Liehig, the great Physiological Chemist, by J. S.
Houghton, M. D. Philadelphia, Pa.
This is a truly wonderful remedy for Indigestion,
Dyspepsia, Jaundice, Liver Complaint, Consti
pation, and Debility, Curing after Nature's own
method, by Nature's own Agent, the Gastric
Juice.
Pelf a teaspoonful of PEPSIN, infused in wa
ter, will digest or dissolve, Five Pounds of Road
Beff in about two hours, out of the stomach.
PEPSIN is the chief element, or Great Digest
ing Principle of the Gastric Juice—the Solvent o
the Food, the PuriOing, Preserving, and' Stimulaf
ring Agent of the Stomach and Intestines. It'
is extracted from the Digestive Stomach of the
Ox, thus forming . . Artificial Digestive Fluid,
precisely like the natural Gastric Juice in its
Chemical powers, and furnishing a Complete and
Perfect Substitute for it. By the aid of this
prepared., the pains and evils of Indigestion and
Dyspepsia are removed, just as they would he by
st.lieulthy Stomach. It is doing wonders for Dys
peptics, curing cases of Debility, Emaciation, Ner
vous Decline, and Dyspeptic Consumption, sup
posed to be on , the verge of thegrave. Tha
Scientific .Evidencc upon which kis based, is
the highest degree Curious and Remarkable..
SC l EN TF IC EVIDENCE!
BARON LEIBIG in his celebrated work on•
Animal Chemistry, says: "An Artificial Diges
tive Fluid, analogous to the Gastric Juice, may
he readily prepared from the meat end eggs, will
be softened, changed, and digested, just in the
same manner as they would be in the human
stomach."
Dr. COMI3E, in his valuable writings on the
"Physiology of Digestion," observes that "a
dimitmtion of the due quantity of the Gastric
Juice is a prominent and all-prevailing cause of-
Dyspepsia;" end he states that "a ditinguished'
proli, sser or medicine in London, who was severe—
ly afflicted with this complaint, finding everything
else to tail, had recourse to the Gastric Juice, ob
tained front the stomachs of living animals, which
proved complctly successful."
Dr. GRAHAM, author of the famous works
on "Vegetable Diet„" says : "It is a remarkable
fact in physiology, that the nomads of animals,
macerated in water, impart to the fluid the - prop
erty ofdissolving various articles of food, and of
effecting a kind of artificial digestion of them in
no wise different from the natural digestive pro•
cess."
