VALUABLE MEDICINES
From the Laboratory of the Celebrated
Dr. J. S. ROSE, of Philada,
R. ROSE'S ALTERATIVE, For the rad
ical cure of Scrofula, Diseases of the
Bone, stubborn Ulcers, Liver Complaints, old
Eruptions, Rheumatism, and every Disease
arising from an impure state of the blood.
The great power of this valuable Medicine
being now fully established by the many cures
it has effected of CONSUMPTION, BRON
CHITIS, GLANDULAR and LIVER DIS
EASE, SCROFULA, HIP-JOINT affection,
RHEUMATIC, SYPHILITIC, and all imps--
cities of the blood, has sufficiently proven to
the public its superior panaceal power above
all nostrums now in use. Price $l.
DR. ROSE'S DYSPEPTIC COMPOUND,
Tas LIVER, being the largest gland in the(
human body, is more frequently deranged in
its healthy action than any other. The con
sequences of this derangement are first Dys
pepsia, known by costiveness belching up of
wind, sour stomach, and sometimes Diarrhcea
or looseness of the bowels, head-ache, nervous
feelings, cold feet, wakefulness, end variable
appetite, &c. Secondly, if the above symp
onis are allowed to go on long without this
Medicine, (which will always cure or remove
them,) then follows debility of the lungs and
predisposition to consnmption.
Dr. Rose has been called on by over Tease
THOUSAND canes within the last few years, and
many of them had tried the various bitter com
pounds to their delusion; fortunately the most
were in time and were soon cured by the above
compound, which contains no mercury, and
does not iujure, but always improves the con
stitution, as thousands can testify. Price 50
cents.
DR. ROSE'S CARMINITIVE BALSAM.
This beautiful preparation has been used by
me in a full practice of thirty years in the city
of Philadelphia, and is a never-failing remdy for
cholera-morbus, dysentery, bowel complaint,
flatulency, &c. Price 25 cents.
DR. ROSE'S VEG LTA BLE VERMI FUGE
This compound having been used by me in a
full practice of twenty-six years, with the most
beneficial results in cases of worms, basso well
established its superiority above most other
worm medicines that the demand has increased
beyond all calculation. All medicines should
be prepared by a physician and chemist. It is
true that many articles are now sold as good
for worms, but it should be remembered that
many are too powerful for the constitution of
young children. Price 25 cents.
DR. ROSE'S FAMILY OR SANITIVE
PILLS.
These pills are confidently recommended for
Dyapepsia, disease of the Liver, Costiveness,
and for the constant use of families, as they are
mild, and certain in their operation, causing no
pain or uneasiness, leaving the bowels perfect
ly free from costiveness. Price 25 cents.
DR. ROSE'S EXPECTORANT, OR COUGH
SYRUP, a certain cut e for 111 diseases of the
lungs, spitting of blood, bronchitis, asthma,
:olds, coughs, and consumption. This syrup
has no equal. Fifty cents and $1 per bottle.
DR. ROSE'S HAIR TONIC
This Invaluable compound for the hair has
been used and highly recommended by the late
and truly great Dr. Physic, of Philadelphia.—
Price 50 cents.
DR. ROSE'S CROUP OR HIVE SYRUP
- - •
There has been many remedies compounded
for the cure of Croup or Hives. The disease
is particularly prevalent among children, and
often fatal; but as I hare never seen a case
terminate fatally or continue long where this
syrup was used, I can recommend it with the
highest confidence. Price 25 cents. See di
rections.
The afflicted are invited to call upon the
Agent, and procure (gratis) one of the Doctor's
pamphlets giving a detailed account of each
remedy and its application.

be relied upon as suiting the diseases for sv:iich
they're recommended, as they are the result of
an extensive practice for the last thirty years
in the city of Philadelphia.

CELEBRATED GERMAN BITTERS,
Prepared by
DR. C. M. JACKSON,
AT THE GERMAN MEDICINE STORE,
120 Arch Street. Philadelphia.
Their power over the above• diseases is not ex
celled—if equalled—by any other preparation in
the United States, as the cures attest, in many
cases after skilful physicians had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of inva
lids. Possessing great virtues in the , rectification.
of diseases of the Liver and lesser glands, exer—
cising the most searching powers in weakness and
affections of the digestive organs, they are withal,
safe, certain and pleasant.
READ AND BE CONVINCED.
From tho "Boston Bee."
The editor said, Dec. 22nd
Dr. Hoofland's Celebrated German Bitters for
the cure of Live, Complaint, Jaundice, Dyspepsia,
Chronic or Nervous Debility, is deservedly one of
the most popular medicines of the day. These
Bitters have been used by thousands, and• a friend
at our elbow says he bad himself received an etrix
teal and permanent cure of Liver Complaint from
the use of this remedy. We are convinced' that,
in the use of these Bitters, the patient constantly
gains strength and vigor—a fact worthy of great
consideration. They are pleasant in tact and
smell, and can be used by persons with the most
delicate stomachs with safety, under any circum
stances. We are speaking from experience, and
to the afflicted we advise their use.
"SCOTT'S WEEKLY," one of the beat Literary
papers published, said Aug. 29--
"D 6. BOOFLAND'R GEJCIIAN BITTERS, manu
factured by Dr. Jackson, are now recommended
by some of the most prominent members of the
faculty as an article of much efficacy in cases of
female weakness. As such is the case, we would
advise all mothers to obtain a bottle, and thins save
themselves much sickness. Persons of debilitated
constitutions will find those Bitters advantageous
to their health, as we know from experience the
salutary offectthey have upon weak systems.'•'

The "Philadelphia Saturday Gazette." the best

The editor says of
DR. HOOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS
"It is seldom that we recommend what are
termed Patent Medicines, to the cadence and
patronage of our readers; and therefore when we
recommend Dr. Hoofland's German Bitters, we
wish it to bo distinctly understood that we are not
speekiug of the nostrums of the day, that are nois

they have done their guilty race of mischief, but of
a medicine long established, universally prized,
and which has met the hearty approval of the fac
ulty itself.

GOOD TESTIMONY'.
The Louisville Courier thus speaks of Bull's Sarsaparilla:
Wo have been shown, by Mr. John Bull, proprietor of
that world-renowned preparation, "Bull's Fluid Extract of
Sarsaparilla," an original, genuine, and beautiful letter,
addressed to him by the accomplished lady of one of the
most eminent old physicians iu the Weed, giving a detailed
aeoount of one of the most astonishing cures on record, pee'
furthest alone by the use of "Bull's Sarsaparilla."
This most excellent and charming lady had long suffered'
from prolapsus uteri, fluor albus, piles, and chronic diseases
of the stomach and digestive organs, and derangement of
the whole system, attended with distressing cutaneous amps
lion, sick headsets, and violent attacks of cramp. After
exhausting all of her husband's skill, and applying to many
celebrated medical gentlemen, both at home and abroa
and also using great quantities of "Townsend', Sarsapa
rilla," without the slightest relief, she was induced to nee
"John Boll's Sarsaparilla.". And what was the happy
result? After the use of a few bUttlea a perfect and won,
derful cure—the lady restored to perfect health, and to her
usual flow of spirits.
Such letters as the one we speak of, must afford Mr. Ball
more real gratification, than could the possession of counts
less wealth. And whether he accumulates wealth or not
by the sale of hi, truly valuable Medicine, being its author
li glory and honor enough; and he can say so the world,
without fear of contradiction, "I have in my poverty re
tiered more human suffering, than did Stephen Girard or
John Jacob Astor with their millions..
RIIEUBTATISM CURED I
Let who are suffering under the agonising tortures cl
Rhottniatisth read the following, and see what may be done
for them, if they will use the infallible remqdy:
Utetoreowe, Kr., May 12, 1848.
JOHN BULL: Dear Str,—For the last three years, l
hare been afflicted with Rheumatism of the severest char.
actor. I was at times in the greatest agony of pain. 1 triad
every remedy I could procure for the disease; but folind no
permanent relief until I was induced to use your prepari ,
Gen of Sarsaparilla, which has entirely cured me of Rheu
matism, and greatly improved my general health more
than any medicine 1 ever used. I have been free from pain
for several months, and have nq doubt the cure is perms ,
neat; and 1 recommend it as the best Mediane in use for
Rheumatism. ISIIAM BRIDGES.
It le useless to produce further testimony in favor of this
great remedy. It boa only to be tried and proved, to cup
rite. the public of its superior efßcary.
Notice to Females,
John Sarsaparilla is one of the greatest female
medicines now ho exietunce. In those numerous cues
where the constitution is debilitated, the nervous energy is
lessened, when the efforts of nature are weak and delloient,
or are profuse and overwrought, when the face is pole and
coterie., the strength feeble and yielding, the spirit trots•
bled and depressed, the health broken, mind shaken, and
consequently the happiness destroyed—then Belle Sense
parilla is a sovereign remedy. It &sande nature in the per
form.. of her duty, braces the whole system, renews
permanently the natural energlee, removes obstruction.,
cheeks execs.., creates pore and healthy blood, and imparts
health and happiness. Were ladies generally to adopt the
use of this Medicine, we would see far less suffering, diem.,
end unhappiness among them than now exists, health would
take the , place of dlseese, the rosy cheek would eoeeeed the
pallid face; we should have !miles instead of tears, and per
haps a happy long life 'mired of one cut short by disease,
or made miserable by continued suffering and affliction.
At that critical prided termed the 0 turn of life," which
often attended with so much danger, Bull's Sarsaparilla le
found to exert a moat beneficial effect. All ladies approach
ing this crisis, should be apprised of this fact, and avail
themselves of this valuable Medicine.
.
A BEAUTIF U L CLEAR BEIIP.
now we all admire a dear, beautiful, white skin, and a
rosy colored cheek. How often do we see persons, not pos.
stewing this "desideratum so devoutly to be wished," re-
sorting to cosmetics, lotions, washes, painis, and coloring
materials, to restore to them a sembance of what discus
has deprived them of, and that, too, with great injury to
the skin. Bull's Sarsaparilla is the best Cosmetic known.
It beautifies the skin by removing every particle of morbid
and diseased matter from the blood, making it pure, heal
thy and vigorous, giving activity to every minute vessel,
and changing the yellow and dark countenance to the
bloom and freshness of youth. Ladies, abandon the use of
paints and nurtures ' and use Bull's llursaparilla the only
effectual remedy. "A word to the wise 18 eufilefent," and
a hint is enough for the ladies.
