As a natant' result of this Ow of trials the learned attorneys of the bar at this place, with very few exceptions, bays beicime wonderfully expert is banging each other. Bat oourt matters amount to comparatively nothing this wink, and I make "mere mention" thereof. 2.30 P. It EMI Sri* county is the palmy day. of the Railroad War vu considered ahead on "loud" Meetings, but 1 doubt whither she ooeld do up a much hotter article of fighting than vu witnessed at the Clout Rouse last Tuesday evening. The Cleanly Bond question has ban agitated considerably lately, and the belilooee [actions have been eager for a grand battle. On that evening they assembled and crowd ed to the utmost aaparity the large Court Room. Bunt dreds were prinsent from every neighborhood and the est citement ran high. Several gentlemen addressed the meeting In lengthy and earnest speeches, but the cham pionship of the rival factions was assigned to S. N:Txv rts, Esq., in behalf of the County in sedating the payment of the Railroad Ronde, and the response was Made by WII. RZYNOI.DII, Esq. It should be borne In mind that a few years ago the County suboseibect $200,000 to the east and west branch of the Pittsburg & Brie Railroad. The subscription was made with the express provision that the Railroad Com, patsy should pay the interest till the road was completed, and it eat stipulated that the County would not be called upon to pay any Interest till six months after the care should be running on the road. Those provisions were duly set forth in the subscription, and $3OlOOO were issued. Rome time after the work stopped the commissioners were oalltd on for the interest. Under the advice of their coun sel they refused to pay it, and pointed the bond holders to the provisions of the subscription. The latter commenced actions against the County for the interest, and a large number of wits have been instituted. Itjutictions were issued to restrain the Company from disposing of the bonds in their hands, and restraining the Commissioners from Issuing the remainder of the hoods. Thus far the County his been successful in its contest with the bond holders and the railroad men. Mr. Perris, the Attorney for the County, was bitterly assailed through a portion of the County papers, and at the meeting by one of the eon tractors. He was railed out and made a powerful rindi • nation of himself and the Commissioners. His speech was certainly one of the most scathing and convincing that I ever heard. For more than two hours be oddreesed tho meeting, and throughout his speech be was greeted with the most rapturous applause. The voice of the vast lhol• thud* appeared to be almost unanimous in his approval He surprised all who heard him. He is one of the young sit members of the Bar and has been very greatly under• rated by his opponents• His eg,rt on this occasion was eloquent and overwhelming, and has elicited commando tton from friends and roes. It is not my purpose •o speak of the merits of the questions at taste, but I cannot withhold from him the need of praise in a masterly forensic eff •rt In this instance he showed himself to be inferior to nu man in the County as an orator. Ilit wee foliated by Mr Raysotos, one of the Directors of the Atlantic k tiveal We-tern Railroad. Ele did not attempt to answer the gra'e otiarges that Mr. Parris had brought age.u•t b n. nod very adroitly turned his battery upon the Coo try 'novas utter, against whom lie meals several charges, the at mg( co portant of which were refuted on the spot• and prorri e t:y recanted by Mr. R. But the sentiment of the meeting as manifest, ed was most decidedly opal:lst him, and there is little doub• that the payment of the interest and prineipat of the Bonds will be secoesefully resisted. It was past midnight when the meeting solj iuroed, and notwithstanding the bitterness of the speeches and the general excitement there were no acts of violence or gr 55 d'eorder committed.
