ted between the rails. Ttiefareutatt, who was
standing ou the car with him, saw him safe as
the Tir passed over him. Mr. CaApnAN, it ap•
pears, got upon his hands and knees between the
rails after this, and was caught by the "rocker':
of one of the cars with which the load is dumped,
and torn to pieces. Ho died instantly. He
leaves a wife and one child. His age was forty.

about $2OOO in money and checks, but they are
now missing.
